The guy was keen on the move. One of the biggest movers and shakers in the game from one of the biggest clubs in the world but the package wasn't enough.
Bean-spillage is required, sir !
*nods*

C'mon Sunny.
David Dein.
Unlikely. He's hardly a mover and shaker these days.
Yep, more a shaker and a vacker.

Official also says:

"This promotion will see him assume extra responsibilities including overseeing areas such as performance analysis, medical provision, and team administration."

So he's now also in charge of cones, plasters and sharpening pencils.

Ian Ayre is a very good appointment though. Liverpool fan, experience and has already proven himself.

Maybe, but still. Can't cry over people that don't want to join us.

Is it a massive big deal either way? What's his role?

There's some building to do and some sponsorships to renew but all the other crap is surely down to Dog Leash and Cornhole.

I agree Mr K. Plus Henry, Werner and the other NESV lot seem to be keeping a pretty big finger in the pie, and if we did get a CEO with a big ego there could have been trouble ahead.

Ian Ayre commented:
"Obviously being from the city and having supported the club all my life, I have a deep understanding of what this special football club means to so many people. In my four years as Commercial Director, we've been extremely successful in growing our revenues, but I've also gained a thorough understanding of the challenges facing the Club. We have been through some difficult times, but we find ourselves today with a great team of people all working together for the same goal. An important part of this new job will be to work closely with all our different stakeholders and help us move forward together. John and Tom have a clear vision for rebuilding the Club and bringing back success and I'm delighted to be able to help shape that future. It is a very proud moment for myself and my family and I am honoured to be given the opportunity."

Damien Comolli commented: "I'm delighted to have been offered this promotion and very proud that I am going to be able to make significant contributions to the development of this great Club. It has been an exciting five months and I think all of us recognise that we have made a great deal of progress in many different areas. However, there is a lot of hard work ahead and with the backing of our owners and their commitment to the Club, I'm confident we will get it right."

Not so old chum,
They are just some heads that got hunted by DDT for six figures, all of them

From my perspective Ayre has done well enough to be worthy of a promotion .

Good luck to him and us.

QUADRASPAZ has given me a few laughs in this thread.

DBP should answer his questions?

Im not so sure that it's a promotion.

Arent most of these reserved for managers you want to get rid off but dont want to sack?

This might be a diminution in Comolli's authority over the team in favour of Dalgklish?

Hear fucking hear, I say.

In principle I'd agree wholeheartedly, but in practice I'm a tiny bit worried about this. I was actually happier with the word "strategy" in the guy's job title as it suggested he wasn't really involved on a day-to-day basis.

Well FSG feel he ( Ian Ayre ) entitled to his chance, he will either suceed or fail against the objectives they set him. Only time will tell.

I cant help but feel that DC needs to earn his stripes before receiving a promotion, why would FSG promoto him already, It doesnt make much business sense to me, he hasnt been here long enough to prove he deserves a promotion FFS, they could have saved some money and left him as he was
