I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

There were ladies here the other night. We may be smelly, famished and permanently in a state of semi-drunkness, but we are still irresistible to members of the opposite sex. That Women's Institute Hill-walking group were quite the minxes. Until that one had a stroke whilst we were all skinny-dipping. That killed the mood a little.

Not sure I'd call the Newcastle lasses, ladies. They were more chain smoking, drunk, beached whales in short skirts and tops.
The Women's Institute Hill-walking group were an upgrade for sure.

Go on, humour me, Wilshere was supposed to be tenacious, hard working, box to box midfielder, possessing good technical skill and able to beat players and score and assist goals. That looks a lot that the videos of Keita I've seen.

I never got the impression wilshere could do anything defensive, but keita clearly can

They were ladies? But, but, they had moustaches! And deep bass voices. I thought the skirts were part of some good old Geordie japery.

Although he did carry the delusion of laughably strutting around like a midfield enforcer.

A midfield enforcer who can't tackle and has no clue about defending.

As successful as his stint as a Gerrard-esque attacking midfielder, who can't score and can't run.

He'd literally snap into a tackle. Before being stretchered off.

I saw very little of him that I can remember properly tbh. I do remember some of that 88 team which was boss. I remember more of him playing for other teams after us which is probably adversely effecting my view of him.

He's the one nobody ever remembers playing in the legendary 5-0 win over Forest.

He never ever stopped running.

I read something an interview once in which - paraphrasing - he actually said the reason he got injured so much was that his clever tactic to beat a man was to "invite the tackle" and ride it when it came.

What this actually meant in practise from what I saw, was that Wilshere would not so much "invite" tackles, as run directly into his bemused midfield opposition and lose the ball as both of them collapsed on the floor in a tangle of limbs.

I watched one game in which he did this about 10 times.

If you mean good, then yeah.

Wilshere wasn't though. Despite the media hype.

This is what I was getting with with the "supposed to be" qualification, Wilshere is undoubtedly shite, but he had huge promise, he just never delivered on it due to his professionalism and proneness to injury. I feel like Keita is the player that the Arsenal fan base was always telling us Wilshere was going to be, and the player Wilshere briefly showed glimpses of being able to be..

I always used to get confused which one was meant to be Arsenal's super exciting talent as to whether it was Wishere or Ramsey. They morphed into the same person in my mind for a time, helped, no doubt by the fact that one or other, or both, were always injured.

Nah, he's never - not once - had anything like the sort of mobility and athleticism that a player like Keita possesses, and he's got slower.

His hilariously OTT reputation among Arsenal fans, and plenty others in the football and media world, seemed to be that he was a bit like them Barcelona and Spain stars that were all the rage a few years ago, based on him playing well against Barcelona when he was a teenager. And also scoring a couple of goals for England made some people think he was good at scoring goals, which he fucking isn't.

You know the sort of fucking shit: he plays a "continental style", possesses uncanny football intelligence and vision blah blah

And because he could pass and was left-footed, this meant he was going to be the saviour of English football.

Ramsey was a decent ball playing midfielder who never went in for any of the cheap shot aggression that Wilshire did. He had a couple of decent seasons but it's arguable he never kicked on and fulfilled his potential. Wilshires just a twat

Right lads *tosses bunch of requisitioned toy plastic spades into camp*. Looks like we're really here for the long haul. I expect a working latrine to be dug by 1700 hours.

Liverpool could be forced to wait until the final day of the transfer window if they are to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig, given how Sadio Mane’s move to Southampton unfolded in 2014.
Jurgen Klopp is desperate to sign the 22-year-old as he sees him as the all-action midfielder his team needs, combining power and energy with a slick passing ability.
The Independent understands that Keita wants to leave Leipzig for the Reds but the Bundesliga runners-up have told the Anfield club that they must stump up £70m for him.
Leipzig have not publically made any noises that they will be willing to sell Keita, with their chief executive this week stating he found the situation “boring” and he was confident the club would be “immune” to any bids for the Guinean.
However, the Reds can look to the patience deployed by Southampton when signing current Liverpool forward Mane three years ago for hope that Leipzig’s reluctance to sell will be worn down.
Leipzig’s current sporting director Ralf Rangnick was in charge at the Germans’ sister club Red Bull Salzburg when Mane was pushing for a move throughout the summer transfer window of 2014.
Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund were among the names linked with a move for the Senegal international but Rangnick was adamant that Mane would not be sold under any circumstances.
However, Rangnick waited until Mane forced the move by refusing to play for Salzburg before he eventually allowed him to join the Saints on deadline day in a £10m.
Now the situation seems almost identical, given that not only Rangnick is making the same noises about Keita while in the position of power at Leipzig, but also that the midfielder shares an agent with Mane.
This could prove helpful to Liverpool’s cause given that the pair’s representative Bjorn Bezemer knows how to force through a move against Rangnick’s will – although there is no indication Keita will take the same approach as Mane.
So often players are reluctant to hand in transfer requests so loyalty payments are triggered but that is what may have to be done if Keita is to force through a move to Anfield and achieve the big-club move he wants this summer.

If this saga goes on to the final day of the window, we're getting nothing if the Konoplyanka and Texeira episodes in the past were to be judge.

We don't have Ian Ayre riding his stupid motorcycle to negotiations any more, so hopefully the outcome will be different than Konoplyanka (although in hindsight we didn't miss much). I hope Klopp and Rangnick can work it out though – there should be enough mutual respect between the pair.

Waiting til the final day is just plain stupid. We should give until the end of July and then move on. If keita really wants the move he needs to put in a transfer request

If we wait until the end of the window we're idiots. The price just goes up as the sellers know we have little room for arranging other options, we and up screwed up if falls through and then of course we have no real pre season training with them, which Klopp has often said he relies on heavily.
I agree, sort it and fast, or sort someone else.

If we pay the money, we will get him. It's not like the salah deal, when Roma wanted a deal also. This lot don't wanna sell but they have at least set the price to buy.

I don't care if it's the last minute to Midnight. What is important is signing him this window because we won't get another chance, and I've not heard of, nor seen, anyone better suited for us in that position. It's not about waiting a month, it's about the next (hopefully) 7-8 years.
