I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

This Guinean journalist says he's asked to leave on Wednesday, not sure why someone back in Guinea would have the scoop, but I like the words hes posting so I reckon it's true.

If tapping him up hasn't worked and RB refuse to sell we should kidnap him. All other top European teams do that and get away with it ... but knowing our luck, we'll get done for it

I don't care if it's the last minute to Midnight. What is important is signing him this window because we won't get another chance, and I've not heard of, nor seen, anyone better suited for us in that position. It's not about waiting a month, it's about the next (hopefully) 7-8 years.

That's a high risk strategy

Naby Keita ‘reiterates desire’ to join Liverpool in meeting with RB Leipzig this week

6 July 2017

Liverpool target Naby Keita has reportedly told RB Leipzig he is looking to leave the club, in his second meeting with representatives on Wednesday.

Keita has become the key focus of the Reds’ transfer activity in recent weeks, following the £36.9 million signing of Mohamed Salah from AS Roma.
The 22-year-old is valued at around £70 million, but that has seemingly not deterred Liverpool, who were said to be preparing an offer for the Bundesliga side.
Last week, Guinean journalist Amadou Makadji claimed that Jurgen Klopp had spoken to Keita about a possible move to Merseyside, before the Reds approached Leipzig on Sunday evening.
This was later corroborated by the Times‘ Paul Joyce, who went on to confirm his source as Makadji in an interview with The Anfield Wrap.
Now, Makadji has reported that Keita has met with Leipzig on two occasions this week, with the latest coming on Wednesday.

Keita is said to have “reiterated his desire” to join Liverpool this summer, with Leipzig now forced to make a decision over whether to sell their No. 8.
This could provide the Reds with the breakthrough they needed to move forward in negotiations, with Keita making it clear to Leipzig that he wishes to leave.

On Tuesday, however, Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff described speculation over Keita’s future as “boring,” suggesting the Champions League newcomers are not willing to part ways with the midfielder.
But as highlighted by German publication BILD, Keita’s situation mirrors that of Sadio Mane when he was with Leipzig’s sister-club, Red Bull Salzburg, in 2014.
Mane, who shares an agent with Keita, ultimately forced through a £10 million move to Southampton, despite Salzburg’s sporting director Ralf Rangnick stressing he was not for sale.
Rangnick is now in the same role at Leipzig, and it remains to be seen whether the 59-year-old relents this time around, too.
If Makadji is to be believed, it may be that Leipzig’s resolve is crumbling, and Keita could be on his way to Merseyside this summer.

I'm a little worried now that all the sources are this no mark from Guinea. Was hoping that Paul Joyce had confirmed it from another source, thus validating this Guinean guy in the process.

Yeah, these things are self perpetuating. But agents and players do release stuff, and doing it away from the European press allows deniability and signals a measure of discretion. There could well be something in it, but you're right that it isn't the most concrete source in the world.

Isnt he based in Belgium ? not that makes much more sense but atleast hes in the same region.

Thats not how it works

Maybe Paul Joyce doesn't have any contacts in Guinea !

The entire assumption that because the same agent did the Mane transfer on the last day of the window that the same thing will happen again is fucking nonsense anyway.

I'd argue it's less likely, as Klopp wants the players as early as possible, RB will be wary of repeating their DOF's mistake which leaves them with no time to get a replacement, & I'd be willing to bet we'll be willing to recompense the loyalty bonus if necessary so Keita will hand in a transfer request to expedite things should they continue to drag on.

Plus we're down to two ply no frills bog roll, I'm not sure I can take much more of that.

I can't grasp why you think its a good idea to wait around for something that might never happen

That's my biggest concern, and a situation that Klopp has been in before, when we didn't make certain signings and ended up with nobody at all.

Let's be clear, if we don't sign at least two or three more top quality players in key positions, we can forget Top 4, never mind a title challenge, because our first team and squad is nowhere near good enough.

We simply can't be relying on clowns like Lucas, Klavan and Origi, and the fitness and form of Henderson, Lallana, Coutinho, Lovren and Milner, never mind the obvious issues we have in the striking positions.

I can't grasp why you can't understand my use of a definitive.

To clarify, since you seem to have misunderstood; the debate wasn't about the possibility of not signing him at all but of the timing of the signing. Of course if we don't sign him then this whole conversation would be void.

I'm not the stupid one here Froggie
