I wanNaby (Under the sea in an Octopus's Garden in the Shade) - Deal Confirmed

Isn't there some bone density scan or teeth analysis thing that can help assuage any fears that he might be actually be closer to 30 rather than 20?

Believe it or not, none of them are very accurate. The bones & teeth stop any reasonable accurately measured growth patterns around the age of 17.

So the tests are pretty accurate until 17, after 17, they're all just best guesses based on other guesses.

Oh well. Best just add on about 5 years to his claimed age, then.

So all these bone scans of dinosaurs are useless if Dino was over 17 ? I'll never believe an archaeologist again !

Nah , the margin of error for blood tests or teeth analysis isnt perfect but its got a respectably low margin for error

They could just use the camera / face age app on my phone, it seems to do a decent job

I'm not sure how accurate a Guinean Birth Certificate will actually be, but I'm guessing not very.

It depends on when it was issued - if it was issued shortly before he left the country i wouldn't rely on it.

If it was issued within 15 days of the birth i'd be happy enough - but only half of Guinea births were registered on time.

After complaining 70M was too much for a bloke i've never seen play and only had 1 season in a top league.....

I am on board with this potential signing....

Looks like he has a wand of a right foot and some of the touches, passes, shots were reminiscent of King Kenny (I just mean the way he strokes the ball)....

Plus the fact this is a big statement of intent and if it comes off cant wait to see the Utd, Chelsea etc fans shut their mouth's saying we cant afford it.

If he signs then expectation is gonna go into overdrive....

Mind you we still bloody need defenders.

Let's just get both.
I don't think Leon Goretzka is on Klopp's list. Kieta worries me, not because of ability but his dodgy ticker and price. EPL is the most physically demanding league in Europe, with the most games of any top flight league. Can Kieta handle the physical demands.

The problem is mate, Keita and Goretzka are not the same kind of players; it's not as simple as either or.

Keita addresses an issue in our midfield as he'll sit deeper and play box-to-box in the same position Henderson occupied, whereas Goretzka would come in to an area further forward where we are well stocked with Lallana, Gini and now potentially Coutinho.

We're rumoured to be after Robertson for 6,5 milll to solve our left back issue.

If we're spending 60 mill on Keita, I guess I'm okay with signing Robertson as left back to accommodate our other needs with a bit more limited budget.
We need a quality CB though.

Just assume that they're about 65,000,017 years old.
Or if you're religious, just 10,000 years old/put there by the devil to trick us.

To address the original point, that's carbon dating used for fossilised bones, which is very different to trying to ascertain the actual age of a living person, for obvious reasons.

EDIT: corrected a dreadful grammatical error.

I'd be a bit disappointed with this to tell the truth, it looks more like signing a backup to Milner than signing a left back. I just don't think Robertson's good enough and I've seen him play live on more than a few occasions this year.

I must have seen him play, but all I can recall is that he seemed pretty quick.

We could kill him and wait a few decades. Just to be sure.

Agreed, that would suggest that Milner is first choice next season.
Given that we've been linked with the likes of Sessegnon, it would appear that this is the plan regardless.

If we have the funds, then I'd rather sign Tierney from Celtic.

@King Binny In your opinion is this guy really worth £70m or would you rather we paid around £30m for Leon Goretzka?
@manwithnoname what's your view?
Goretzka looks to be one for the future, and he has mainly been played out of position at RM this past season so it's difficult to make direct comparisons. What we do know though is that Keita has played all season in the position where we want him to play and has been the dog's bollocks. As I said before, even if it's £70m that will look cheap if he plays as well as he did for RBL, for us for the next 7-8 years. And if RM/Barca come in for him after 2-3 years at Anfield then you can be sure the figure will be £100m+ (though we'll probably be CL and PL champs by then and no one will want to ever leave Anfield again).

He is. He's also a very solid all-rounder, but he's not good enough in my opinion to be first choice. That means we'll be buying another left back soon, whereas I'd rather we replaced Milner now.

I know that's a bit unrealistic as we've been linked to 'potential' in this position for over a year now, but it's hard to see how Robertson's eventual level could be above Sessegnon's for example - he's already 23.

Clearly I'd be delighted to be proven wrong.

Yes. If we are going down that route though, we should enquire after Aaron Martin at Espanyol too.
