So there was a few people on here like: myself, rage, glock aswell as others who said benitez should have got the sack after a few games. come to think of it now, we were right. People gave us shit, but now it looks as if nearly this whole forum has converted. How things could have been so different had he been sacked back in october.

Well having said it from the start, and looking at it now.. i would have to say sacking rafa mid-season would have been one of the best choices our owners could have made.

Well the first part of the plan could have been good, but who would you have brought in that early in the season? Don't say King Kenny because I think that wouldn't have been the best choice.

someone like Hiddink or Mancini would have been better til the summer when we could have got Mourinho

I'm happy I got a mention. I still don't think sacking him in October would be clever. Even now is dubious. We're not gonna get 4th new manager or not.

Are you saying that you *knew* this season was going to happen, even when we were battering the likes of United, Villa and Real last season?

you're as delluded as benitez and you didn't know anything. you're hopes for this season were to win the title like everyone else. when we lost the games and the title was gone that is the real reason you wanted benitez sacked. isn't it.

you had no idea the season would see us finish 6th / 7th that is a total shock and not something you knew in october. stop using comments in reference to missing out on the title as some sort of evidence for you forseeing our current position.

No, they were both wrong.

Rafa deserved a contract after last season.

What he didn't deserve was a 4-year millstone around our neck in case it all turned to shit, which many feared might happen.

Which did in fact come to pass.

I want Rafa out; but I'm not going to be linked with the likes of this post.

As I said, Athens 2007 was the end for Benitez.
He completely fucked up that final. I was already very skeptical with his baffling decisions and tinkering (Crouch/Kuyt)
