pull our players out from internationals due to 'injuries'.
PRAGUE - SPARTA Prague coach Jozef Chovanec was suspended for 10 weeks by the Czech Football Federation (CMFS) on Monday after fielding junior players under false identities.
The CMFS said that Chovanec had withdrawn two Sparta players from an international under-21 match and then selected them for a club fixture under different identities.
The 50-year-old former Czech international midfielder and national coach could still take his place in the dug-out for Thursday's Europa League last 32 match at Liverpool as the ban only applies to domestic competitions.
Strikers Vaclav Kadlec and Tomas Pekhart were pulled out of the Czech under-21 side to face the Netherlands on Feb 9 but both played in Sparta's friendly against Russian champions Zenit St-Petersburg a day later.
The duo played with shirts bearing the names of other players, but the deceit was exposed a day later when photographs of the match were published.
The club, who are second in the league, four points behind Viktoria Pilsen, were fined 30,660 euros (S$53,500), while the players were suspended for two matches. -- AFP
