Poll Hypothetical Site Upgrade and Donation Question

Guys,

Purely hypothetical question here but if we were to look to purchase new forum software (currently on free opensource software) which would, in my view, dramatically improve the site. How many people would be willing to give a one off £3 donation to do this? We'll never introduce subscription payments on this site ever. As I say purely hypothetical and we're not going all Koptalk here but to purchase the right software would cost in the region of $285 . This would be additional cost for the owners to cover and I havent discussed it with the other lads yet but just thought I'd throw it out there and ask....

Well, Software I've been looking at is vbulletin. I'm on another site that uses it and the features it offers are excellent. There are hosts that will host vbulletin forums specifically instead of more generic hosting services we employ now.

Hopefully not stepping on sunny's (very large) toes, but one advantage of other forum software is a dedicated mobile site which is similar to tapatalk in functionality, but more in keeping with our overall aesthetics & available to almost all mobile users.

Depends. If we go down the vbulletin route, and can raise enough funds (hypothetically) , there's also a vbulletin mobile suite. That pushes the price up somewhat though to about $485 plus $99 a year upgrade (for the mobile suite - which owners may cover). Check it out: https://www.vbulletin.com/
