How would a slow, lazy goal-poacher compliment Torres 'wonderfully'?

Oh yeah, I forgot, you don't know *anything* about football.

My mistake, sorry
People have been crying out for a 'Fowler/Van Nistelrooy' poacher to partner Torres. Huntelaar is exactly that. Torres creates space in the box and Huntelaar can bang them in.

But nevermind me as I don't know *anything* about football..
But Torres will get the majority of our goals. Perhaps we need a player who can compliment him, RVP for example would be the dream partner. Someone who can pick a pass and compliment him. We don't need someone to take the goalscoring burden from him but compliment his qualities and improve us.
Robin Van Persie is NOBODIES dream partner, unless you enjoy having someone bitch and moan at every available opportunity whilst throwing their arms around at every less than 100% pass; whilst also stabbing you in the back in the press...
He is an excellent player with great vision, skill and can score goals. He might be a cunt but he's a very good player.
I dont really think its in doubt that hes a good player, I was merely questionning how likely it is that he'll EVER strike up a partnership with anyone - I dont expect strikers to be best mates (see Cole and Sheringham) but if you had that cunt blerting on at you every 5 minutes you'd be sorely tempted to punch him flush in his angular face

I think he'd be better at a team like Utd who do tend to create a lot of chances. If the manager decides to make an allowances for him, he can mope about a la Ruud and finish off chances.

Not so sure he'd be good for us unless the supporting cast put on a real stellar show.

He is a bit of a cunt, i'll give you that.

i've only seen him play one full game, but he was impressive -- madrid were dominant, though. he scored 2 and generally looked class.

dont see him as a strike who would form a good partnership with torres but the reality of it is torres needs an understudy not a partner, he misses so many games that we need somebody who can play in his place when absent rather than alongside him when fit

And therein lies the crux of the problem - You need someone talented enough to lead the line on his own, during Torres' injuries, but also somebody prepared to sit on the bench so not to break up the Gerrard - Torres partnership.

Why do we need a mini-replica of Torres to slot in the team when Nando is injured ? Why do we need someone who can play alongside Torres when most of the time he won't be playing alongside him ?

We need someone who can come in and score goals, whether as a sub or when Nando is missing due to injury (often), tired after national duty etc. etc. we have enough creative talent in the team with Cole, Jovanovic, Gerrard and Maxi to provide the bullets. And it's always good to have a Plan B if the Torres Plan A is not working.

We need someone who can replace Torres goals when hes out yes, but its pretty hard to find anyone who can even come close.

We need a striker who can provide for Torres when he's fit, and score goals when he isn't.

"We want you to sit on the bench when Torres is fit, score when he's not. There is absolutely no chance of you replacing him, you are just here to play 2nd fiddle. The Kop will sing songs about the main striker while you're playing and if you don't score we'll get our fans to call you a cunt on the internet. Take it or leave it"

That's not what I meant. We need a striker who will play alongside Torres and get goals as well. But when Torres is injured, said striker should be the main man.

Oops.

Although, for the life of me, I can't of who.

My top realistic choices:

Fernando Lllorrente
Roque Santa Cruz
Asamoah Gyan

Known targets:
Loic Remy

In a nutshell !

I'm wary of this Gyan bloke. A few decent games in the World Cup doesnt mean he's up to the job here. See Diouf for instance

Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will join Liverpool, with Ryan Babel heading the other way as part of the deal, claims Il Corriere dello Sport.

On Tuesday Huntelaar was reportedly in Manchester, leading to speculation talks with either Manchester City or Manchester United are impending.

However, the latest reports from Italy suggest he could join Liverpool if Fernando Torres leaves. Huntelaar was not at Milanello on Wednesday, leading to further belief his future is away from Milan.

And should the deal with Liverpool take off, Milan will press for Ryan Babel as part of negotiations.

Everton are also said to be tracking the Rossoneri striker, but the lure of Anfield is likely to prove pivotal in his decision.?

There has been little official confirmation in relation to Huntelaar's future, but Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri didn't appear too convincing when he was probed for a diagnosis.

"Huntelaar, for now, is a Milan player," he told the press. The Dutchman has also been linked with Tottenham and Aston Villa previously.

Not sure what to make of this tbh. The article says he will sign if Torres leaves.
If you ignore the Torres bit then seeing that Milan want Babel, its good business.
How reliable are IL Corriero ((excuse spelling)?

No idea, probably as (un)reliable as the British media when it comes to transfer speculation.

Ooooohhhh, yesssssss, part ex for Babel, double whammy - well in Cecil. (If it were true , which it probably isn't, but it's at least another source).

If we have a good summer in the transfer market people will have to give Purslow some credit.

Never.

Along with Broughton he's the antichrist according to some people

I'd bite Milan's hands off if there is any truth to this!

Is it one of those cases where it's too good to be true or just maybe Roy is hedging his bets? Torres could possibly leave! A front 2 of Huntelaar and Aguero would do nicely.

Not necessarily - we got Cole for Yossi 😉
