It's a theory
Funding and budgets must have been discussed during the contract negotiations, it was only just before the end of the season in the middle of March, something must have been agreed on and Rafa must have gone along with it, if they went back on that, don't you think Rafa would have felt he was in a position to say something regardless of any bizarre trapist agreement

Which ever we way we look at it Vlad, Rafa's gambles in this transfer market have played their part in fucking us up this season.

I'm just not buying it that Rafa thought that he had CF covered with Babel, N'Gog and the Crow. I honestly think that he was told more money was available, only for G&H to change their minds during the refinancing process.

I mean why would he agree to sell Keane if he knew full well that he wasn't going to see a penny of that money again?

He's never been shy in coming forward in public Vlad, i think that this clause in his contract prevents him for doing so.

Christ knows, someone has fucked up and if it wasn't Rafa and something has gone on he needs to speak up , even if it means them trying to sack him.
If that is the case then Rafa would be in a much stronger position with the fans than he is now , and make the Yanks continued tenure almost impossible, as the silent majority would take up pitch-forks too

This is slightly different though Sheiky/Vlad. He wouldn't have been having a pop at a rival, it would of been to simply set the record straight. The only way this could back fire, is if they sacked him.

What? Rafa should speak up and get sacked with no compensation (if he is breaching his contract), but that's ok because he will be in a stronger position with the fans! No offence, but that's silly.

I'd be very happy with a Europa League title, especially in the "inaugural" season of the competition. It's not the competition I wanted us to be competing in (not by half!) but it is a trophy and an important one too.

Of course, it's all moot if we don't qualify for the Champions League next year.

I think there is some truth to that; it's very likely that his super contract came with some strings attached.

I do think tho that the primary reason he hasn't gone mouthing off to the press ths season is because he's realised that the transfer disasters over the past few seasons have been of his own making.

I haven't left yet; probably this afternoon.

It's been quite bad what with all the texts and all.

My favourite was this received at about 6am yesterday: 'Liverpool out. Y.A.W.N.'

But what hurts the most is the fact that 2 close friends who are Mancs (yes, it's a paradox) have kept absolutely silent about our season even though I did engage in a little banter with them after the 2-0.

Pity is very annoying.
 
Nah, at least they weigh friendship over football rivalry. Better is the silence than the 'rub it in' attitude.

This season, I will pump for the London clubs as a consolation. *Sad*

If UEFA really want to beef up the competition they should make the winners eligible for the qualifying rounds of the Champions League. That would do more than any increase in the prize money to elevate the status of the thing.
 
We won't win this, we're garbage and there's no desire to win trophies. It's all about top 4 for Benitez and the club. He'll use it to rest players and give run outs to dross like Degen and Voronin.

Heh, it wasn't so long ago that some fans were saying winning the CL wouldn't matter THAT much to them if we didn't win the league..

To be honest at the moment I can say I'm indifferent on the "Europa League," and be would happy to field some reserves/youngsters and see how far they can progress, but I know I'd be loving it if we were in the final and won, a final is a final, and a trophy is a trophy, I''d much rather Torres and Gerrard were holding something aloft..
