People say draws or results vs Top 6 or referring decisions but the fact is that, as it turned out, we were 15 mins from the title. Just needed that touch of luck (and Mings to not fuck up) that deserted us when we needed it most.
We were good enough.
How to keep up? Stop trying to compete on spending power will do for a start. We were so close to quad last season, but faltered in the biggest two comps. City have added two more attackers to their squad, and are likely to add more. We have signed 1st teamer and 2 back up players for now.
Is that enough for us to win the league?
Or Brighton; that was the worst home result for me last season. We couldn't beat Spurs at home
It was shocking I was there and at the time I thought this result could cost us as did Brentford awayOr Brighton; that was the worst home result for me last season.
Didn't all teams suffer from bad referring decisions? Failure was one game, as it was the same few seasons back. Tactics and personnel is where we fell short IMHO.
1. Salah well he went shit after Feb. Teams knew his style and countered him really well
2. Our right side suspect, and the overloaded it on the right
3. The MF is strong as long as we have Fabs and Thiago, and we know Thiago is suspect.
4. We absolutely have no pace through the middle as Ox went shit, and we are still keeping him. why?
How about losing at home to Palace? It's football. Logically City and Liverpool should win every game bar against each other but obviously they don't (City dropped points in virtually 25% of their games last season) and just as obviously the matches they don't win are to inferior teams, at home or away.If you're relying on City not beating Villa at home you're already fucked. Yes it nearly happened but it would've been a miracle.
Yeah you don't need pace through the middle but players who can beat a man and so disrupt the block and create space. With Thiago, Keita and Elliott we have that but even more so now with Carvalho. The more I watch that game of his against City in the FAC the more he looks ready and maybe we'll see more of him than I expected.I’m still a bit confused by this “pace through the middle” stuff.
Why do we need “pace through the middle” when we’re playing controlled possession against teams that mostly operate a low block?
What is that pace supposed to add?

We had two losses last season to City's 3. If we had converted one of those 8 draws to a win, the league would have been ours.Leicester away was the most abject performance of the season. That’s the day we lost it.
When I say pace, I mean a player is able to run with the ball from one box to the next beating several players in the process, like Robertson does as a LB. As i understand Ox was bought into do that, add pace to the MF centre but has failedI’m still a bit confused by this “pace through the middle” stuff.

That game was where we looked uninterested. Didn’t do a thing right. And went 13 points behind. Had we even tried in that game and actually won everything would’ve changed. We had two losses last season to City's 3. If we had converted one of those 8 draws to a win, the league would have been ours.

So? We had it on a platter despite our previous fuck ups during the season.Nor did City.

Most fuming I'd been after a game last season. From pissing it first half and almost going 3 up but for the disallowed goal to completely falling apart second half and clinging on for a point in the end. Piss poor Reds!!
but that's a normal season right. You have your bad days. They were so few.
Blowing a 2 goal lead at home to Brighton was a right kick in the bollocks though. Margins are so fine coming up against City and that one just sticks out for me.
