So anybody know how long before we get a manager in place, tabloid speculation of our firesale (if we are to have one or need one) is intensifying. Judging by the list below we are to lose some significant number of players/key players! We need a manager in asap to fight off this journo speculation!

Barcelona are set to offer Liverpool £70m for star striker Fernando Torres but face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City. Full story: Daily Mirror
Chelsea are on the verge of landing Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun in a £6.5m four-year deal. Full story: Daily Mail
Chelsea and Liverpool have yet to finalise a fee for Benayoun but he has agreed terms with the west Londoners and will undergo a medical at Chelsea's Cobham training ground this week. Full story: the Guardian
The Blues will pay the 30-year-old Israeli £60,000 a week, with Manchester United, Tottenham and Juventus leading the chase for the man he will replace at Stamford Bridge, England midfielder Joe Cole. Full story: Daily Mirror
The departure of Yossi Benayoun to Chelsea is expected to be followed by forward Ryan Babel, winger Albert Riera, defender Philipp Degen and keeper Diego Cavalieri leaving Liverpool this summer. Full story: the Times
Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard wants to quit Anfield and join ex-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's club in Spain. Full story: Daily Mail
But new Barcelona president Sandro Rosell is also keen on Gerrard and the Catalan club are lining up a £40m offer for the England captain. Full story: caughtoffside.com
Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano, who is rumoured to want to quit Anfield and join former manager Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan, has admitted he is learning Italian. Full story: Daily Mail
Mascherano could be joined at Inter Milan by Liverpool team-mate, defender Glen Johnson, with current right-back Maicon set to leave the Italian club for Real Madrid. Full story: IMScouting.com

I think everyone of the players in the squad knows the team are capable of so much more, so I'd be very surprised if any player committed to leaving before the new manager was in place

I'm not getting too hung up on the media rumour mongering. They're using our situation to generate bullshit and cause unrest - typical of the cunts they are.

Exactamundo.

Besides, a while ago Broughton specified a sale in a matter of months. Given his public commitment to that and the banks' reportedly increasing loss of patience with Dumb and Dumber, I'm hopeful things won't take too long now. Meanwhile we can fight off hostile approaches with the people in place. There doesn't have to be a manager in post for that to be done.

i sincerly hope things are progressed soon as the media frenzy is getting a tad tiresome

That's an understatement

The man brought in to 'sell the club' has done what he was brought in for, sacking Benitez.

Now all our family silver will be sold lining the yanks pockets, ready for a big fat profit when they sell our bare bones and invisible new stadium.

Why do you think that they needed to bring in a new Chairman to sack Rafa?

Aye.

It's totally ruining the World Cup.

Maybe our new manager is currently working with a National team and that is why nothing has been announced??

We need a manager to sort out our squad and start buying the players he wants (...not to fight of speculations).

Some players have said that they´ll stay (Agger, Reina etc) after Benitez was sacked so why can´t Gerrard do the same? Has to be because he doesn´t know. It feels like everything with the club is in limbo but with a manager some issues perhaps could be straightened out.

What about Lippi?? Italy have already announced Cesare Prandelli as his replacement
[/quote]

He doesn't want it apparently.

I don't agree that that has to be the explanation. Different players deal differently with taking part in a World Cup and, if it's Stevie's preference to put everything else out of his mind while the WC is on (especially now he's skipper), that's fair enough. My money's still on him staying.

Fabio has said he doesn't want the English players talking about transfers during the WC.

Joe Cole, released by Chelsea, said "I'll let my agent deal with all that" when questioned about his future.

It wouldn't go down well with Capello if his captain started banging on about his Liverpool future when he wants him concentrating on matters at hand.

Ok.

But imo it would be less disturbing for everyone to just say: "I´ll stay". We just have to wait and see I suppose.

I agree that it's a pain to say the least.

Focus on the WC.

i also think we might be seeing who is available after the world cup in terms of management - Its also a possibility that any potential new owners would find that putting their own man in charge more attractive.

These rumours are complete shite.. With the world cup on i highly doubt there are many serious negotiations going on. Obviously the turds that didnt make it are probably looking for the best way off the sinking ship (Riera you twat)

Look, Roy Hodgson is going to be our new manager, everybody.

Accept it, get used to it.

Its the same shite being recycled all over again. I can't see us selling any players before appointing a new manager. He'll want to run the rule over all the players first before giving the green light for any sales!
