Hillsborough: Searching For The Truth

So many excellent posts in here, and so many brutally painful memories. Words are a pitiful medium to try and express such emotions, but reading them really makes you proud to be a Red and proud to be involved with this forum and all of the people that have poured their hearts and souls out on here.

Fuck me, hats off to you for even making it this far without breaking down and losing it totally, YNWA lads.

Yes the 3-1 in 2007 I believe.

That was the one, I had tinnitus after that game the chants were so loud

I guess so, looks like they'll mainly be speaking to the families on where they go from here.

They shouldn't go anywhere. It ought to be up to others to see that people are brought to justice. All the people apologising over the last few days, it is up to these disingenuous cunts to back up their words and bring people to account. If they sit back and leave it up to the families once again, I couldn't blame them if they put their dignity aside after 23 years and go for outright revenge.

Just spent the last few hours in the pub with a lot of friends talking about this... One close one - someone I've played tons of 5aside and golf with - who I've been to loads of games with, aways, Europe, and also didn't know he was there.

Not sure if it is just my perception or my desire, but it seems like the past few days have been good for you, Woland, and others like you who were there. You are discovering for the first time that others you know were there and I can only assume that is because some veil of silence has been lifted.

I so hope that is the case. I know these days have surely been really, really hard, but perhaps in a good way. I wish all the very best!

I find myself coming back to this thread again and again.

I keep looking for some other bits of news to say that more and more of the bastards that were responsible for this injustice are slowly being brought to book, and of course its not happening.

I want to see more people come onto youtube or whatever to question why so many peddled such horrible lies for so long, and why so many had to suffer twice, first for their physical loss, and secondly for the loss of their innocence.

I don't know why I keep coming back to this thread.

I shouldnt be surprised, and its a bit silly as I'm trained to know that these things take time.

But somehow, after all these years I just want more people to accept their responsibility; and not just because they've been found out, but because they know they were in the wrong.

David Cameron is a politician, of course. And well versed to issuing sound bites and platitudes which he knows people want to hear.
But a part of me wanted to believe that he himself was sorry.

That HE personally felt sorry for the suffering so many were put through, for the many many victims who could never move on because they were made to feel responsible for their own loss.

I think every fan who's ever gone to a football match feels somehow linked to this tragedy, even if that obviously makes no sense.
Every fan since who's ever walked through a turnstile would in some point reflect on what happened at Leppings Lane, on how easily it could have been them at some other place and some other game and some other time.

I want to see that true justice is done, and that so many of those who have suffered, suffered so much, are finally able to look ahead to life without a 23 year old vice gripping them.

As for us, I hope we can all come together again, and not constantly feel this pain everytime April draws near.
This hollow pain of double suffering, or double injustice.

I hope that by next April, we can mourn the 96, and that we can remember the 96.
But we no longer have to sing and plead for their Justice.

I wouldn't call it a veil of silence, it's like when you meet your family all the time, you don't go on about Uncle John getting caught fingering a dog in the 80s or whatever. You tend to go on about current / more pleasant stuff. My attitude has changed a lot over the past few days, a move away from passive acceptance and fence sitting to wanting to stick a shitload of cash in that HJC bucket next week and wanting some coppers to hang.

...puppet of the illuminati, he doesn't care about this, he said what he's been programmed to and will be happy of media a diversion from the rest of his policies.
I completely disagree. Cameron could not have done better in his announcement of the results of the HIP and the way he apologised for the injustice of the last 23 years. He was clearly totally sincere in what he said and there wasn't the slightest trace of performing a political act.

I can't work out if your post drips with sarcasm or not Portly. I agree he said all the right things in the right way - But what the hell else could he do? Incidentally is it really true that Ed Miliband was wearing a JFT96 badge when he addressed the commons?

I think there is a whiff of bigotry in the way people won't give credit where credit is due. Cameron said exactly the right things in exactly the right way, and he meant what he was saying.

He was. I am sure he was sincere in his support and it wasn't just bandwagon jumping for political opportunism.

That was sarcasm in case you were wondering😉

Well I thought Miliband's statement was also quite sincere and well-expressed.

I don't think it's constructive to assume that everything any politician says is a lie. The atmosphere in the House at the time was very different from the usual scenario of political grandstanding.

He's a politician Portly - Of course he's going to say what he said. When it comes to my opinion regarding the sincerity of a politician - I think the accusation of bigotry is a bit harsh. However we will see what happens in the future. The truth is out next comes the justice.

I agree with Portly, all right I know I would say that, but too I honestly believe Cameron is being open and honest and showing a very human side in all this, he couldn't have done any more to help when he was able to, I don't think he had any other option, but he has thrown himself into it. This fucking Tory hatred, just for the sake of it, is infantile and tedious.

OK I see, sorry, it's all politicians that are getting it, but I still think this has transcended the politics issues and it has become a very human thing, just like it has transcended other areas of life

Transpose Cameron into Thatcher's cabinet 23 years ago and he'd be the one doing the shredding.

Interesting. So if you transposed Cameron into Henry VII's Court of the Star Chamber in 1487, what would he have been doing then? 🙂

I know he did those videos with him doing the washing up in a three bed semi but he isn't a regular dude. He's a lizard from outer space and learned what he knows of humanity in The Bullingdon Club.

I get where you are coming from with this Vlad and Portly - I'm not arguing with you really. If you have faith in them that's fine. From experience I have very little trust in the sincerity of politicians. That trust needs to be earned and in this situation it's just another example of them (albeit 23 years ago) letting us down (to put it mildly) - This opinion of mine has in two posts been called 'Infantile', 'Tedious' and 'Bigoted' - And for the record I never mentioned anything about the tory's.

I'd have to agree with this. I put Cameron and Blair in a category that transcends party politics. Fucking lizard scum.
