Hendo'n his way out

Rumour that the Saudi club thought there was a realistic chance of no transfer fee.

I can see this falling flat very soon.

No transfer fee? Only way that happens if Hendo agree's to buy out his contract and pay the club 15m.

Are they on fucking crack?

Out the goodness of our hearts we'll let them take our captain

If he really is Gerrard's number one target then surely the club would be willing to pay. It isn't like they are short of money.

For the record, I don't want to see Henderson leave this summer. I think we would regret it.

The team still seems to give 5% extra when he's on the pitch.

I mean we could just keep Irish Kev and not register Adrian.

We could - but people were up for selling Irish Kev and at the very least a season loan would be ideal to give him experience or increase his sell on value for the future.

He is probably our most sellable asset that isn’t a first team regular.

Again - it kind of smacks of us not really planning for Hendo not being here this year.

We won't be planning for Henderson to leave. I doubt the club want to sell him (well, Klopp anyway).

If he leaves it is because he wants to (have lots of money).

My guess is that Klopp will try to talk him round.

Jurgen "too loyal, but maybe not as loyal as it seems seeing as he said so himself" Klopp

You don't plan for any departures other than those whose contracts are expiring and it's known the club won't offer new deals.....pretty sure Sadio wasn't planned either.

I'm not sure any of us would refuse that sort of money, especially as he will be always regarded as a club legend and all things considered he is in the twilight of his career.

10m reeks of "ok you can go, as we're nice". I get he's been a loyal servant to the club so we're being amenable.....but fuck me its the short sightedness thats blighted us for years

Exactly this.. i was us to be the cunts that everyone else is..

Koulibaly went for 17m we should be looking for more than this.

I am pretty sure Mane told the club quite a long time in advance that he wanted to move on.

I'm conflicted.

I thought it was a mistake to give him a massive bumper renewal but then I also recognize his value - even if it's just little things like having an England international talking to the refs (when he's on the pitch).

In an ideal world we'd have him whilst we bring in the new guys and do a bit of a handover but I'm kinda with dmish - we completely fucked any idea of a smooth handover by having no succession plan and now we have no CL, limited funds and a fair bit of pressure to rectify things next season.

I don't think he'll end up going but I'd think we'd be stupid to rule out a sale for any of our elder statesmen bar Alisson given where we are. If the sums add up, it should be considered.

More than what Koulibaly went? Based on what exactly. Both are absolute duds at this point in their career.

Brozovic also went for 15-20m....should be looking at more than what they paid for him too?

Not sure about that, maybe was on his mind but it came weeks after the season had ended.

& in any case if he left tomorrow, that'd still give us a month before the season starts to prepare and find a replacement......more than enough time.

Let's say we lose Fabs, Hendo and Thiago. How do you replace that experience whilst trying to maintain a homegrown quota? Gallagher, JWP?

And they're both younger than Henderson

Based on nothing other than personal fantasy....you've not applied any realism to your biased feelings.

You can't give a logical response as to why we should be demanding more than the 15-20m they paid for Brozovic...because there is no logical response for it.

And they're both younger than Henderson

Yeah few years younger, much better players....certainly in Brozovic's case.

It's like fans believe the Saudi's are a bunch of fools we can mug off.....they may be senseless when it comes to their human rights activity but believe you me where business is concerned, whilst they have more money than sense....they aren't senseless.

We won't sell all three in this window.
For next season, the solution is pretty simple. You want home grown and experience in midfield? Move Trent there and buy an English RB, there's loads of them.

They aren't senseless. Yet offer 700k a week in wages.

Really?

You can't believe all you read obviously, but I think he was quoted as saying that he spoke to Klopp a year in advance saying he wanted to leave.

I assumed that was the probably true enough, given we had Diaz identified to join in the summer of 22 but ended up getting him early to stop Spurs getting him.

So there was some planning involved there by the look of it.

That said, we do presumably have a lot of midfielders identified anyway this summer, so it wouldn't be as much of a problem in theory in terms of finding replacements.

The problems will be with experience, continuity and money. You just know that if we sell Henderson we won't be getting much.
