Fuck sake.

I like Allen, and he's been great of late in his cameo appearances, but when he played against Southampton we were reminded of his physical shortcomings in the second half. Hopefully he steps up now and gives Klopp something to think about over the Summer.

I don't think it'll be Klopp necessarily deciding Allen's future.

How so? If Klopp wants rid then hes gone, if Klopp thinks hes worth keeping as a squad player then on the sort of wages Allen pulls in its likely he will be kept.

Maybe the Welsh Xavi will want a guarantee of first team football - which he will get wherever Rodgers goes (Swansea) - and asks for a move

You're completely forgetting the fact a footballer has a mind of his own.

It's the usual contract malacky i would think. There is always a chance that Allen doesn't sign the contract if offered and he is forced to be sold or he leaves on a free eventually.

Fair enough, but there is no way hes moving to a bigger club or getting better money elsewhere. He would no doubt get more game time if he moved to a lower half team but he has always struck me as one of those players thats happy to play a squad role rather than the kind of guy who demands to be starting every week. Could be wrong but I dont see Allen forcing his way out, I mean if he was in Bentekes situation sure but hes getting a reasonable amount of games.

I disagree. I think Joe Allen is exactly the sort of player who would leave and join a worse team in order to play every week.

Which is a compliment to him by the way. He seems like a genuinely excellent professional and likeable fellow

Whilst it sucks he's out for the season, it could have been worse. I wonder if he'll still make the England squad, probably.

I see three different "step ups". Lucas, Stewart and Brannagan. Lucas, according to PhysioRoom is due back around now. Has been slow back from injury before. I've lost track of Stewart. I know he was injured, but over that, and should be in the squad I'd think. Brannagan is a decent third choice. They will all hopefully remain cover in Europe - who is eligible? - as Allen seizes his chance.

It's no big loss given his recent form.

In fairness he hasn't had 6-8 weeks of being able to regularly unhindered since the start of the season, but I do wonder if we should look to get rid whilst his price remains reasonable. There has to be question marks on whether he will ever be able to play a full season at a high level again. I feel for the lad, I really do. He's done everything in his power to make himself indispensable to this club to the point where he went from derided for playing like a pussy to Captain within 18 months. The turn around was arguably the biggest turn around I've seen in such a short space of time and it's very cruel that it could all be ruined by injury.

I'm fucking crazy

I understand if you mean based on recent form. But personally, even on recent form, I'd rather have him available than rely on Allen and Milner to plug in the gaps. And at his best, Henderson is a key player for us – not many midfielders can boast a combination of prodigious work-rate together with the knack for getting lots of assists. Usually it's one or the other, Gattuso or Fabregas. Hendo at his best delivers a bit of both and that type of player can be a serious asset to any team.

Not specifically targeted at Henderson who seems like a good lad.

I'm not really sure I understand this 'loyalty' bit as far as players go. They get paid a shitload of money, often more in a week than the average, or even the not so average, person does in a year, for kicking a ball about. If we didn't pay them enough they'd be off like a shot and if Barca, Real etc. come calling they'll also be off as fast as their agent can get them out of the club. If that chance never comes then it's far better to be playing for LFC than most other teams, and they know it.

At the end of the day the game has changed, these aren't players that have earned our respect by going to work at LFC on the bus and personally whilst I felt emotionally attached to players of previous eras (and I include Carra and Stevie in that despite them earning the big bucks) I don't feel anything for this lot bar the fact they are employed by LFC.

At the end of the day LFC is a huge multi-million pound corporation that can't afford sentimentality if it holds them back from securing players that could be improving the team and therefore the club's fortunes.

I don't think any footballer has gone to the match on a bus since about the 1930s. JJ may correct me
