He’ll Slot right in

If you'd earned £150m in 9 years doing your dream job, would you not want to fuck off and find the time to do your own thing?
Why stop at £150m? Go for £300m? Or the other direction, why take it when you were already minted and could do your own thing.

It’s not the best job in the world. He’s fucking lying. You can see it in his face when dealing with the media or press. I bet there are parts he absolutely loves but there are others he despises. He’s exhausted because of the job which is partly his own fault. It most definitely isn’t the best job in the world.

I’d also like to know why he’s talking about his successor in a press conference. He should be addressing the shit show that was Wednesday night and what the fuck he’s going to be doing about it. He should’ve stopped that line of questioning in its tracks.

He's not lying, he's just burned out, I don't get what is so hard to understand about this. He would hate an easier job, he just can't do this one right now. He's not a spring chicken.

I absolutely agree he would hate an easier job. I’ll bet he will absolutely hate having no job. Come October he is going to be bored out of his head.

It’s a nonsense line he’s thrown out there because we all know at times it’s a fucking crappy job at times.

As for him openly discussing the transfer to another club - yes, it’s unusual for a manager to do that. But football is changing; not long ago fees for managers were unheard of and now coaches and sporting directors are being bought and sold for millions just like players. Slot rejected the approach from Spurs last year when his contract had a €5M release clause and signed a new contract last year that didn’t - which means Feyenoord would benefit by getting a much larger sum when he does leave. Now that his dream job offer is here, he feels entitled to help his future club bring down the price a bit - in effect he’s already negotiating on our behalf. Given how open he’s about it, I doubt the Feyenoord boss thinks he’s betraying him or anything - this is just part of a tough but respectful negotiation process and maybe there is a bit of a cultural difference about the Dutch people being able to talk about these things in public (this wouldn’t be possible in Italy or Greece where fans might pelter your car at any hint of “disloyalty”).

Anyway, I’m not reading this at all as being big on himself or indicative of a character flaw.

Me either. It wasn't humble Kloppo. It was honest dutch discussion. I think we are being hard on the new bloke who's just started going out with our Mum.

Yeah. It's shit at times. It's a job.

I’m sure there are some jobs out there which are proper boss which some people would never get bored of doing. Very, very few though.
Porn star - you bang fit women and get paid for it, granted you don't get paid as much as the women but still. Although what's with all these porn stars killing themselves?

End up addicted to coke and unable to get a hard on without a little blue pill.

I got burned out doing my favourite job so far. I was relieved it was over because I was so focused on it that other aspects of my life were just flowing by. Then I was bummed about 6 months later. Both emotions can be true.

Jeepers! He almost wins every game. I mean, he doesn't actually win every game, but statistically he should

(I'm being sarcastic, sorry binny, love you)

No worries, just sharing things I read - not necessarily cos' I agree/am overly impressed.

Afterall, PSV scored 19 and conceded 1 in their last 3 league games inc. vs. 4th and 10th placed teams.

All i've just read doesnt fill me with much confidence about him.
If he's another Ten Hag, he wont last long though.
Unlike what Carra is saying, it will be a very difficult job being LFC manager after Klopp

All the reading and interviews provide nice/interesting insights but in the press/social media, every time someone gets a job (esp. those who "made the step up" from less competitive leagues or "smaller" clubs), positive reports and references are published so best not to get hopes too high for a start.

For example, Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan who said these about Slot

"Liverpool fans should be confident because Slot does not lack any confidence and he will play the way he wants," he said. "He has a super attacking style and it is very similar to that of Pep Guardiola.

"He will not adapt against any opposition. Slot is like Guardiola and it is attack, attack, attack. He demands so much from his players."

"He has a personality where he knows he can carry a club because he has done that with smaller clubs and Feyenoord.

"He is charismatic and if Liverpool have done their homework and studied him, then they will know he is so similar to Klopp. He is full of energy and that is good for the Liverpool team because the players will not see much difference."

said these about ten Hag

"He is a massive fan of Pep Guardiola and his coaching is very similar," he said. "He is very intense, on the pitch every day and is an absolute fan of very attacking, dominant football.

"He's done this in the Dutch league but also most impressively in the Champions League
and that's what makes him a very wanted manager."

and these

Erik ten Hag's football philosophy has always been like Pep Guardiola's and Johan Cruyff's. He likes to attack, to create things on the pitch.

His man management is excellent and all his players say they have learnt so much from him.

Whereas many coaches focus on the first XI, Ten Hag will spend an incredible amount of time on the training pitch.
At Manchester United he won't just pay attention to the star players like Cristiano Ronaldo or Harry Maguire, he'll also go to the 19th or 20th most important player. He's taken on players with different characters and he doesn't mind how many hours he has to spend with them, he will give all his time to them.

That's where he gets the respect from the players because they see the effort he puts in to improve them individually. Even with those who have the most difficult background - some kind of baggage, maybe - if he thinks the talent is there he'll make sure they fit in.
