Liverpool are lining up a £10milion move for Lille midfielder Gervinho this summer.

The Ivorian came close to a move to Anfield last summer but the Reds failed to agree terms with Lille before calling off the deal.

But they remain interested in the 23-year-old, who has 18 months to run on his contract, and Lille are ready to cash in.

Director of football strategy Damien Comolli made a personal check on Gervinho in Lille's last league match against Toulouse and talkSPORT understands the Liverpool chief is ready to sanction a summer move.

A source close to Gervinho said: "He has been watched and there is interest from Liverpool.

"We will have to wait until the summer to see what happens."

Re: Gervinho Link

10 things you don't really need to know:

1) Gervais Yao Kouassi was born on 27 May 1987 in Anyama, Cote D'Ivoire.

2) The winger's career began at the ASEC Abidjan youth academy, a club that has produced such Ivory Coast greats like Didier Drogba and the Toure brothers.

3) The name Gervinho comes from Gervais – not the portly comic but, as he puts it: 'It's basically a variation of your name. When you get in the football squad at ASEC Abidjan they give you a nickname and mine has stuck.'

4) After two years playing in Belgium with Beveren, he moved to Le Mans in 2007 and in 2009, moved to current club Lille for £6m.

5) He can use both feet, is lightning fast, has superb dribbling ability and can score goals too, having put away 10 in 21 games for Lille so far this season.

6) Unsurprisingly, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has monitored his progress closely as one of the Ivory Coast's most promising prospects continues to shine. The Gunners had a cooperation agreement with his first club Beveren between 2001 and 2006.

7) His performances for Lille helped propel them into the Europa League last season where they were knocked out by Liverpool in the last 16.

8) The Reds seemed to be very close to signing the 23-year-old during the recent transfer window and £11m was apparently offered.

9) He made his international debut against Benin at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations and scored his first goal for his country against Guinea in 2009.

10) At the 2010 World Cup, he was awarded Man of the Match in his country's group stage game against Portugal.

That's the line which impresses me. Fast, skillful and goals don't come nearly as easily in the very tight French league as they do in some. Lille are top this year, with a host of teams bunched in behind them. Its a very competitive league.

For 10m-11m I think there has to be a catch to this some how, if the below is to be true.

Maybe he's African 23?

His head is too distracting. Don't mind people going bald just people trying to cover it up....badly.

By the end of the season he'll have a year left on his contract, £10M is steep.

Needless to say, attacking talent is a priority. Add Marveaux and possibly Young and Bojan and there's a whole different dimension of speed and guile to the team.

Ms?
Multiple Sclerosis?
Because I'm not a *checks* female, if that's what you're implying.

I'm suspicious of the Doctors bolding.

In fact part of me thinks he's not taking his duties seriously.
