There must be other evidence considering he had plead not guilty.

Surely?
[/quote]

I hope so but what evidence could he possibly have that would get him off with that footage?

A friend of mine who is in the legal profession in Liverpool says that the defence counsel feel there is little for Gerrard to worry about. Or words to that effect.

Having been in court in Liverpool the other day for a nailed on case that my company was supposed to win and then lost, I think I'll wait for the judge. 😉

He really does have an obsession with washing his hands. He kept banging on about it in that Sky one documentary.

Here is the CCTV footage. Shows nothing really other than confirms gerrad does have an obssesion of washing his hands. It also shows gerrad being held back but nothing else.

I haven't changed my UK pension fund over yet eiher.

Mr Gerrard asked Mr McGee for a card that controlled the CD player

Here, what's the craic with that? What sort of 'card' controls a CD player? I'm totally fucking confused.

The whole thing is weird. It's supposed to be because he wanted to hear Phil Collins isn't it? Or has that been debunked?

I didn't know about the hand washing until now but I think it's possible that the row had nothing to do with this mythical CD card and that Stevie actually hit him because he didn't wash his hands after going to the toilet.

I always wash my hands after going to the toilet, even when there's no shite on them.

None of the CCTV footages released show SG throwing a punch.

Unless the prosecution has strong witnesses, SG walks.

all other defendents have pleaded guilty, only Gerrard pleaded not guilty, they'll take all the flak & a nice backhander and Gerrard will get off scot free.

Unless of course he did twat him and there is CCTV that shows it

When SG was interviewed by the Police he admitted punching the manc. He'd be a pretty strong witness I'd say. The whole case rests on whether or not SG was acting in self-defense, the fact that he threw the punches is not in question.

The fact that there's no CCTV actually showing Stevie lamping the bloke is significant to an extent though, in that it'll make it harder for the prosecution to attack Stevie's case that he was acting (or genuinely thought he was acting, which would be good enough) in self-defence. Bear in mind that the burden of proof is on them, not him.

CCTV of Gerrard 'brawl' released

CCTV footage of the events that took place at the Lounge Inn

A court has been shown CCTV footage of Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard's apparent involvement in a bar brawl.

Prosecutors released the footage as part of the trial of Mr Gerrard, 29, who is accused of affray after a fight at the Lounge Inn in Southport.

It shows the England footballer, who denies the charge, being held back by friends at the venue.

Liverpool Crown Court has heard that he admitted punching Marcus McGee, 34, but said he was defending himself.

Steven Gerrard arriving at Liverpool Crown Court

Gerrard 'struck with boxer speed'

The charge of affray was brought after Mr Gerrard, from Formby, spent a night out at the Lounge Inn on 28 December 2008.

He was celebrating his team's 5-1 victory over Newcastle united, in which he scored two goals. The CCTV film was shown on the opening day of the trial.

The grainy footage, highlighted for the jury in a lightened ring, showed Mr Gerrard's friend John Doran, 29 - who has pleaded guilty to affray - appear to push Mr McGee and follow through with an elbow.

A scuffle ensued in which Mr Gerrard appears to throw uppercuts at Mr McGee.

The player is next seen on camera back in the restaurant being held back by a friend.

The court had previously heard how Mr Gerrard "totally lost it" and hit Mr McGee "with the style and speed of a boxer" after a row about control of a CD player.

Five men, including Mr Doran, have pleaded guilty to affray, while one has admitted threatening behaviour.

The trial is expected to last a week.

The actual link shows the CCTV Footage, but I don't know how to link it as a 'Clickie' ?

Agree, the case would seem to rest on what the manc said that would have made Stevie think he was acting self defence.

Asbo, fair point there. I'd say the prosecution still have a job on their hands proving beyond reasonable doubt that Stevie didn't genuinely think he needed to defend himself.

The CCTV clip doesn't do too much to hurt Gerrard's case.

He's big and he's f'ing hard, we all knew that anyway.

GERRARD `VICTIM` DESCRIBES `BARRAGE` OF BLOWS
Posted 22/07/09 11:48EmailPrintSave

The man allegedly attacked by Steven Gerrard has described being the victim of a "barrage of punches".

Marcus McGee has been on the stand describing the night he was involved in a bar brawl at the Lounge Inn in Southport.

McGee was first attacked by Gerrard's friend John Doran but admitted he had no idea who threw which punch.

He said: "I remember a barrage of punches coming in at my face but I didn't know who has done what.

"Having watched the CCTV it was obvious Steven Gerrard hits me a couple of times, maybe three times but I couldn't honestly say on the night.

"I didn't know who did what."

He confirmed that the incident had started with Gerrard demanding control of the music in the bar.

He said: "Mr Gerrard came to me from my left hand side and requested he wanted control of the music. It was something to the effect of 'Here you are, lad, give me that'."

"You recognised Steven Gerrard?" asked Mr Turner.

"Of course," said the victim. "I didn't give it to him, no.

"It wasn't my permission to be giving it out to somebody else, it was my job so I didn't hand it over.

"He made a move to try to grab the card to take it away and I remember it slipped on the floor at one stage.

"He then walked away, that was the end of it."

The prosecution alleges that Gerrard then returned to McGee to begin a confrontation that ended with the businessman needing hospital treatment.

Gerrard will have the best barrister money can buy, forensic minds. these guys are ruthless and will destroy the opposition.

It appears he can't talk in coherent sentences, so i think its fine.

I put it to you sure, that you are an imbecile, who's attemps at DJing by quickly switching cds of soft rock was the reason for the incident.
