Been thinking about this for a while and seeing the other thread about next season it seems a good time to post about this.
What do you think about Gerrard next season and beyond?
Argiably the biggest issue is England, not impressed by the rumours that he will carry on to the Euros, that in no way will benefit LFC or his LFC future, really hope he bows out after Brazil because he should really be concentrating everything on LFC and winning trophies which we have a great chance of doing over the next few years.
Hes carried us on his own back for a lot of his career, its suprising it hasn't caught right up with him already tbh but surely if hes still slogging it around with England it will only bring his career end date forward, the likes of Scholes and Shearer were retiring from England at 29/30 years old to concentrate on their club careers.
Next season will be a first in that Gerrard will not be an automatic pick for every game, that simply isn't going to happen for obvious reasons, not even Suarez will start every game next season.
If he gives up England and Rodgers manages him competantly which im in no doubt he will (and already is) then there could be 4 and at a stretch 5 more seasons of Gerrard.
Owen (i know) actually said something quite interesting the other day about Gerrards new role about how when he has time to pick his passes he is unstoppable in that regard where as when hes further up the pitch under more pressure with less time its obviously not as easy, probably quite obvious but it was a good point, he doesn't have to run as much either nowadays with the young legs in and around him.
Got to admit like many - thought Gerrard deep wasn't a good idea but it looks like a genius move from Rodgers.
