He's been injured for much of his first year at Villa. There's no need to swooping to those conclusions. He started pretty brightly from what I saw.
That's what you get when you sign a talented player with a piece of shit attitude.
To be fair to him, he needs a summer transfer window to really stamp his mark (joined in November or December I think?). Remember Klopp finished 8th in his first season with us when he too joined in the middle of the season.
Considering when he joined, and how differently Villa seems to play under him, I'd say he's done a good job so far.

I reckon Villa fans expected / hoped for better given their squad.
After a good start I'd say he's slightly under delivered. Not by enough to have any talk of moving him on, he's generally liked by the Villa fans I know. But they aren't sold on him yet,just thankful they didn't get Lampard.
He’s done okay I think. They have had a couple of crappy results against teams they shouldn’t be losing to but most of their defeats have been against teams you would probably expect them to lose to.
They are mid-table, which is about right for now.
As has been said, it will be interesting to see what business they do in the summer and how they are next season. That will be the time to judge Gerrard.

Yeah, he's done okay. Some very good matches and some poor. All to be expected given its the first year. They've had some injuries as well I think.
Question is, were they a better team without Coutinho? And has signing Digne improved them or could they have gone with Targett for the rest of the season?

I was having a word with a Villa season ticket-holder I know earlier today (receptionist at my local gym) and as it happens both those questions came up. She's a fan of Coutinho, expects to lose him to Newcastle and isn't happy about it. The position in respect of Digne is more mixed - in her view he's better than Targett but he's been coming off early with various knocks, so for her the jury's still out on the signing overall.

What the hell is going wrong for him ? - just don't get this - he cannot get any consistency out of them, ok - they may not be good enough in certain games but even the defensive side is all over the place.
