What in your opinion is the reason that Jordan Henderson (who played so well when Gerrard was out injured) turns into Horrenderson whenever he and Stevie are on the pitch together as of late?

It's not just because they both would prefer to play the same position. When Gerrard has been in the deeper role recently Henderson hasn't played nearly as well as when Gerrard was out.

Is it because Jordo is afraid to step on Stevie's toes and would rather defer to him? Does he feel overshadowed by Gerrard?

Almost all the team do, even Suarez let Gerrard take the first free kick in our last match, and Suarez is the better free kick taker now.

It's this. Apart from other top international players we've sometimes had in our midfield, all our midfielders have been running scared of Gerrard for almost a decade. There was an incident in the Bournemouth match where someone (I've forgotten who it was) should have been playing the ball but deferred to the nearby Gerrard for no tactical reason whatsoever. The move broke down because Gerrard wasn't in the optimal place to play the ball properly, but still strode in there and tried. I remember talking about it with my son at the time.

The much derided Igor Biscan suffered from this syndrome really badly but was actually pretty capable when Gerrard was missing and he appeared liberated.

Yes, it goes beyond Henderson. Take Gerrard's obsession with going for quick one-twos on the edge of the opponents' area - he loves doing it, but I can't remember the last time it worked. It used to, but nowadays he just stumbles into defenders and loses the ball, and there are several better options behind and out wide in thoses situations, but the other players always meekly oblige (and then get a scowl from him after he's lost the ball!).

Henderson shooting like Heskey or spreading the ball out wide into touch rather than a player has nothing to do with Gerrard playing deep. He's just been off form. As has Coutinho, unfortunately.

This is so true, and it drives me mad. Studge and Luis routinely can make flicks like this happen but Stevie honestly needs to quit trying the intricate stuff.

I shudder to think of the amount of chances we have missed because of Coutinho and Hendo either blasting it directly at the keeper or blazing it over the crossbar.

Hendersons shooting technique is kids stuff, all wrong, leans back when shooting first time, its one of the most basic things a footballer can do wrong, piece of piss to sort out, im sure he will.
