Gerrard admits Madrid is a Real possibility

Plan A: appoint Dalglish and Gerrard will stay.

Plan B: drive a harder bargain than Benitez did with Alsonso's sale, Gerrard's fee must exceed Alonso's.

Stevie G is an honest guy. And he said he wouldnt comment on his future until after the world cup. That the spanish press choose to make up a story doesnt necessary mean it is true.

In some odd way I wouldn't blame Gerrard if he left on good terms (us getting a big fee and all) but I'd be absolutely delighted if he chose not to.

Imagine is he moved on and we then went on to win the Premiership-title in a Season or two, he'd be completely devastated.

And as that's almost a certain (our time is up) he really should linger on.

We're at our worst point in twenty odd years. Twenty years in which we haven't won the title.

Can you really see us lifting the trophy in 2?

I doubt Gerrard can either.

Id be happy for him to leave for 30 million.

He clearly wants to play abroad... He is getting older... The team is once again in need of rebuilding and without Gerrard around it would make the whole thing easier - The media will focus even more on Gerrard sticking around and pile on the pressure. Reina or Carra would be better suited as Captain material and i think it will give everyone a large boost knowing that they have to step up.

Swap for Gago, Lass Diarra and Marcelo...

Didnt Mourinho and Lass have a falling out? its why he moved on..
Gago's place in the team is highly unlikely if they spend big again this summer..
Marcelo could improve our average left side.

It would be an Owen-like situation, wouldn't it?

He went to Madrid to win the CL and then we went on to win it.

That would be great. McManaman left in 1999, in 2000 we won the treble. Local player sacrificed to the evil god Madrid = trophies

Time to go Stevie.

Nobody can begrudge Gerrard a move if he so desires, however we must demand fair value. The figures bandied don't represent value of our most prized asset. If he goes it must be on our terms.

Whilst I understand why people assume he wants to play abroad, I'm not so sure.

Stevie is clearly a troubled fella, I think he'd really struggle adjusting to life elsewhere myself.

Spot on IMO, and I'd hazard a guess that he'd never be quite the same player again if he did go. Even the prospect of going to the Chavs, despite Mourinho in charge and silly money on offer, absolutely tore him apart. How much harder would he find it adjusting to a different country altogether? I understand the arguments about trophies etc, but - biased as I may be - I maintain it would be a bad move for Stevie.

I dunno. Getting out of an area where people sing songs about his kids having a different father isn't the worst idea in the world.

Don't you think the fans reaction had something to do with that??

i believe Gerrard completely underestimated the situation. He almost believed moving to Chelsea would be acceptable and the fans would understand.

i reckon if the fans weren't so vocal Gerrard could easily move abroad. I don't think he believes that he owes Liverpool anything and his ambition far outweighs his desire to remain at Liverpool for his entire career. In his biography i got the impression he would love to be a galactico and part of what inspires him as a Footballer is to play with the best and be considered amongst the best. Similar to other players before him i get the impression he would only be completely happy joining Madrid/Barcelona/AC Milan as in his eyes playing for one of those clubs is the defining factor for a player to be considered the worlds best. Without playing for one of those clubs Gerrard may consider he has never truly reached the pinnacle of world football.

He may well believe that, but I'm convinced he'll fuck up if he does so.

He's mentally strong on the pitch, but off it he's the complete opposite. The lad has issues, many of which I believe we wont even hear about till long after he's stopped playing, & I think moving countries will only exacerbate these.

His wife would be there in a shot she gets abused in the street in

I have lived in Madrid... And I can reveal a well hidden fact. Neither Genesis or Phil Collins are really hot down there, so I cant see this happening.

fuck me after watching Stevie yesterday and how superb he was it makes me realise how devastated I would be if he left, he is great to watch

fingers crossed
