Gerrard admits Madrid is a Real possibility

Liverpool have been rocked by the news that captain Steven Gerrard told Spanish press that he’s aware of Real Madrid’s offer for him and that he could be a Madrid player next season, but insists he will not make a final decision on his future until after the World Cup.

Speaking after England’s disappointing draw with Algeria on Friday night, Gerrard is reported to have told Spanish journalists:

"It is possible that I’ll be in Madrid next season. I’m aware of the club’s offer so maybe we’ll see each other in Madrid. I can’t say anymore.
‘I’m just concentrating on the World Cup. My agent is looking after it all".

Despite Gerrard’s reluctance to discuss his future, the Spanish giants want Liverpool to drop their valuation of the player as they look to finalise a deal. Liverpool don’t want to sell the 30-year-old but know he is unhappy with how the club is progressing, but will only consider letting their talisman go if they receive a figure close to £30m. However, Real feel that fee is excessive and believe £20m is closer to the players value.

If we get 60m for Gerrard and Masher and keep Torres while putting at least 50m back into the team then I wouldn't be devastated.

haha i cant believe how lazy the media are..

On that note though.. It wouldnt suprise me if he did move on. 20 million would leave me with quite a bitter taste in my mouth considering the silly sums of money Real throw around.

Real have obviously planted this. It's their opening shot in an attempt to get him, and to do so for somewhere near that figure.

Well, they can go and get f'cked upside-down and sideways, and I'll willingly wield the bargepole.

Madrid manipulating things through the Spanish media again.
It could very well happen, but he ain't going to say anything about it now

regards

Seconded.

*gulp*

well, whatever happens, happens, but we can't allow real to drive down the price and we have to hope the yanks down swallow up the fee to pay down debt 🙁

It's the same thing nearly every year. I got used to it.

If he wants to leave then so be it. If the price is right that is. And 20 million is NOT right.

This is more fabricated than the Ribery (to us, not the prostitution) rumour! Gerrard will not have said that when he said at the start of the WC that he was concentrating on england and wished for some respect in regards to no one asking him about it again during the course of the competition!

I would say this is probably utter shit. This quote would be everywhere wouldn't it? Just googled Steven Gerrard Madrid and couldn't see anything there

Let's be honest, he's given us the best years of his career, will likely be in the Top 3 greatest Liverpool players ever - and was managed by guff like Benitez and Houllier.

He deserves(d) better.

It will be extremely sad, but I wouldn't hold a grudge toward him leaving, unlike Owen.

Where's the League medal, Spider? Where' the League medal?

Average no-name Joe's have more PL Medals than Gerrard.

And if you think that someone like Gerrard deserves to be in a 4th place scrap - year in year out - then you're a bit deluded.

He's won everything you can win at club level, bar the league, but feel free to exagerate away if it suits your agenda, you usually do.

What a load of shite those "quotes" are.

He may well go, if he does, I'll be so gutted, but he has done enough to deserve our support if that's what he wants.

Correct.

Even he does want to go, then he deserves to be allowed to go without us demanding silly money.

I think £30m would be fair. £20m is fucking insulting - typical Madrid.

not sure about that mate. I'm all for good feeling, and to be fair when Real Madrid ask, any player would at least listen, but we need to get as much as we can.

He is under contract, he's our captain, we don't want to sell him, we will need a lot to replace him and we're skint. We can't let sentiment get in the way of that.

With that in mind though he is 30 now. How much can we really expect?

Like fuck he does. Hes our captain and he's under contract. Arsenal are holding out for as much as they can get for their captain and he wants to move so why should we be any different? Especially when we need the money!

"Bar the league".......Isn't that's what it's all about?

You also conveniently skipped over the 4th place scrap part - which isn't an agenda - it's fact.

If Gerrard wants to go, then he's more than payed his dues. I'd wish him every success. He's been our best player for a long time, but we'll move on regardless.
