My daughter is called Niamh. The amount of different variations of the spelling on birthday cards she gets is astounding.

I was telling the lads yesterday, I had a work colleague called Siobhan & for over 18 months I called that (the way it's spelt) before someone said something about Siobhan & I asked who it was!

I think we're always going to be disappointed with investment in comparison to other big teams and because we (as always) need a leg up to get back in there.

We still spend as well as most do, but whereas Sturridge and Coutinho should be considered masterstrokes, instead they appear like a drop in the ocean, because we all know that there's alot of work to do.

I think you're maybe being a bit premature, Rodgers has stated he wants two more players before the end of the window and I think that's regardless of Suarez. We shall see. We won't be spending mega-bucks, but then I would be surprised if go and blow another £20m or so.

Even though I know how to pronounce that name, I hear it in my head as it's spelt when reading it.

Do we need better owners? Should we really be grafting around the bargains department of "Players R us", when we are the most successful club around. We should be back In the CL by right and sometimes, I wonder if we're buying into this lower expectations thing. Should we start expecting better from the owners than this organic malarkey, hoping to achieve a Dortmund while everyone around us is bathing in money.

Yes Kennoli's purchases really set us back, but if you want to be back in the CL, spend $70m on a few great players and you will be..

So, do we want wealthier owners. Are we tired of being victims of the FSG business model. Surely having secured us for a song in PL terms, in 2010 they should be putting more $ into their investment, Kennnolis mistakes aside.

If we go and spend 70m on players and get back into Europe we'll probably be disqualified because of breaching FFP.

Well we'll have to see. Somehow I find it hard to keep faith in UEFA banning City, PSG, Monaco, maybe a few others. Of course, if they'd spent the money early then that wouldn't be a problem even in theory because the CL revenues would have compensated.

Bogus argument boss. They aren't enforcing it

They've already started enforcing it, but they can only start with the likes of City this year.

We just have to wait and see.

And your plan if bankrupting the club is hardly anything other than bogus

Tbh the thing that gets me about FFF's story is why he didn't see fit to wonder how the name was pronounced! Isn't that just common sense?

'Sio-ban', hmmm... nice name that. Unusual, actually. Cool.

I mean it's just so clearly not a normal English word conforming to English norms of spelling and pronunciation.

I didn't.

McDonalds instead. I had 6 nuggets. Which I think makes me the winner of the contest

No sir, investing in decent personnel and taking a risk on a short term loss for a long term gain. Much less risky than a 20% chance of making the CL every year, with assets leaving, and overall the club depreciating to an also ran. There's no Dortmund way into the CL thru the PL. They don't have to pull a City - the revenues and fan base as well as youth players are there that could go well with a few higher end signings.

Didn't Everton make 4th the Dortmund way, a few years back?

Spurs have managed to lift themselves up the table without spending ridiculous sums of money. We are following suit now.

Are you sure? Without checking figures I reckon spurs have spent quite a bit on transfers & have a high wage bill too.

I haven't looked at any figures so perhaps they've spent more than I think but they haven't spent that much in relative terms, have they?

It always seemed that they spread their risk across lots of players focusing in particular on young English talent as well as cheaper foreign imports. They did go for the odd big purchase like Modric (which was a Suarez-esque coup for them as weirdly none of the big clubs made a move for an obviously talented and rated player). They've had their share of fuck ups too (see: Keane) but always seemed to me that they were playing a long game overall.

I've always felt they are excellent at selling their deadwood. They regularly seem to get a good price on players they have absolutely no need of which allows them to spend that little bit more.

Tbh I've never felt that Spurs have been that effective, not really. They've had a great squad for years now and only once got CL and never challenged for the title. I think their squad or at least spending power has been as good as ours was under Houllier and Benitez, so IMO they probably should've done better than they have.

What they've done is spend a reasonable amount of money reasonably well. That's been enough to propel them up the table because we've spent a decent amount really terribly.
