FSG owe us more ...

We should burn them! Just ignore the £3 million we are missing out on for every home game.

1 CL Cup
2 CL finals
1 inevitable league title
Record T/O
Record profits
Net transfer profit
And still

Looks to be another disappointing transfer window. If we can't afford Werner, then who the fuck can we afford?

With loss of gate receipts and possible reduced tv revenue they could make a loss this year. They've also renovated the main stand and put huge money into the training grounds and academy. I think some people expect the owners to love the club in the way fans do. They're businessmen. Fortunately for us they're smart businessmen who have looked at it long term made some excellent hires, rather than trying to flip the club in a few years. COVID will have cost the club massive revenue. I don't love the idea of not signing anyone but I get it.

Plus the 15m we have to pay sky back (delayed until middle of next season), almost certainly more to pay back dependant on when fans come back to stadiums, merchandise revenue losses due to lack of match day fans, global merchandise revenue loss due to possibly the greatest ever worldwide recession, the list goes on & on...

They wanted 40m upfront for Werner. Not in split payments like a normal transfer. Chelsea could afford that because they made sales & couldn't spend, which also freed up their wage bill for a new high earner.

Quite frankly, outside of City, Chelsea, & Utd, any PL teams that make big money transfers are taking a huge gamble imo.

I don't understand how anybody who's been around for more than just the past few seasons is complaining about anything FSG related...

They're taken us from the brink of bankruptcy under those last fuckwits, to being probably the strongest team on the planet, and a team that everybody wants to play for... We have the best manager in the world, the best players in the world in half a dozen positions and our global branding / merchandising is thriving...

They're never NOT spent when we've needed it, and there's no reason to believe that they weren't going to again this summer, had the zombie apocalypse not stopped the world in it's tracks. There might be five team in all the world who can still plough ahead as if this had never happened, but for all of the rest of us, it has changed how we must do business in a way the sport has never seen before.

Complaining that we're not spending stupid money on Werner at a time when we're losing millions every single week is utterly mental, lads.

You don't expect me to be pissed off when all the murmurings are, we will buy no-one? The TV companies will do okay as all 92 games will be shown live, so SKY and BT will see record viewing figures.
If we don't get reinforcement, there's good chance we won't be in the top 4.

Questioning what's happening is reasonable enough. Getting p!$$ed off without knowing all the facts is not.

And no, there isn't.

I wonder whether they have anything in mind once they see the launch of the Nike deal and if that exceeds expectations they might be willing to push the boat out further. Shame that's delayed.

Spending now might be mental. Deciding definitively that they're not spending at all this year no matter how all the complicated variables contrive to re-shape the market for later in the summer is even more mental.

Fair - Have they done that?

That's what they've briefed Maddock and the Echo hacks to say.
But, playing devil's advocate, isn't that exactly what we'd want them to say if we thought we may have some money to spend but wanted to keep the figures down?

There's no way I see any huge players coming in, but a bargain buy or two similar to Andy Robertson could still happen, & the more that line I pushed out the less the fee will be.

I doubt we'll sign anyone. Maybe another Van Den Berg type signing, which is just what we all want.

Hey... there isn't anyone who doesn't want us to strengthen but.... if you are looking at a fucked up market and you have lost possibly all of your matchday income...

My real curiosity extends to FFP if Chelsea does not make it back into the CL...

Spurs are probably fucked already...

City banned from Europe massive wage bills etc...

Although I've always quite like Villa to stay up I'm gutted that the goal for Sheffield never counted.

YES we should strengthen BUT... it is a fucking mental time and we are being run pretty damn well.

Something i've been wondering - but this break has given us a great opportunity to nail the merchandise for #19 - I wonder if there is any thinking around how we can spend the upside if the club shop really gets on top of this. This on top of a new kit launch with Nike could be a nice windfall.

Very good point. We p!$$ed away such an amazing opportunity when we failed to capitalise on Istanbul and we absolutely must not make that mistake again now.

I understand that we are going to make a lost this season, although Sk,Bt etc will still for the most parts be making there money(some new costumers signing up. While some watching by other means) but my question is "How much money did we make as a result of the CL final,Super Cup and WCC, the sponsorship deals and merchandise they bought in"....

That along with the merchandise extra sale from the mid part of this season, up until lockdown for being so far clear and on the way to our first title in 30 years...When all for that is taken into account surely we must have made £30m-£50m from all of that

I would feel happy enogh if Villa goes down, we sell Lovren and buy Tyrone Migs (CB) from Villa... Feel he would be a better CB pairing with VVD than VVD&Gomez
plus Gomez can, and have played both RB and LB for us

We will look to the lower table/relegation teams imo, the likes of Cantwell, Buendia, Fraser (free) are all likely to be available. Our first eleven is fine for another couple of years in all honesty, but the front three need competition and back up, as well as LB.

Alisson apart we have been really lucky with injuries, you can't rely on luck each year.

No chance. He will be about 30/40 mil

We won't be getting Fraser. His form has called off a cliff this season and he's refusing to play or fight for Bournemouth during their relegation battle as he's out of contract. Just the sort of thing Klopp will not like

25m for Lovren with only a year left on his contract. I'll have what you've been snorting!

He'll probably go for between 5 and 8m and I sure as hell wouldn put it towards that Donkey Mings there's better centre backs out there.

All the mouthpieces for the club will go hard on the new signing talk, Keita and Minamino in particular.
Not sure Keita counts this is coming into his 3rd season. Wouldn't put it past Pearce tho

I'm expecting Minamino + this is the time for Brewster/Jones etc

I can understand if fsg don't spend, but if they really aren't going to, they would need to sell one of mane or Salah this summer.

I thought we were really on the cusp of growing as a club into a sustained period of being a dominant force, and we may instead find ourselves due to unprecedented historical factors, not really capitalizing on getting it right, at all.
