I guess there'll be no more Maradona comments from the Micks.

In fairness though the Paddies deserve a big hand for that performance.

It was the goal in Dublin that did the damage.
[/quote]

It was. Away goals count.

Ha ha.

Now we have something else in common with our neighbours across the water.

We both got shafted by the hand of God.

*Very proud Irishman*

It is time to bring in the video technology and bring back football refereeing from the dark ages.

It's been time for years, it aggravates the shit out of me, I haven't heard a single legitimate argument against it.

Jesus Christ.

I can honestly say that this is the most shattered I've felt after a football match in many many years. A mixture of anger, disappointment, and fucking heartbreak.

It was definitely bad luck for the Irish. Well, cheating actually. They played really well tonight. Pride is great but it won't ease the pain.

All together now.

To be honest I have well had enough of moral victories.

We had ample chances to put the tie to bed in the ninety minutes tonight and we didn't.
The dissapointment that we didn't has been compounded by the fact that the goal that put us out was, as blatant a cheat as the "hand of God" goal (hand of frog anybody?)

It was without doubt a magnificent effort but ultimately failure deprives us of deriving any satisfaction from the game.
feckin gutted!!!!!!!!

I am absolutely gutted.

I think I've used the word 'cunt' more times in the past half hour than I have done in the rest of my life. Thierry Henry, you are one of the greatest cunts to ever walk this earth.

It really is a kick in the bollox.

Fair play to Trappatoni, he did a great job to get us this far and we did quite well against France over the two legs. They got two goals in 210 minutes of football, one from a jammy deflection and the other from a cheating cunt.

There's fuck all we could have done about either really.

Really disappointed but at the same time given what we went through under Stan the Man it's quite satisfying to see us playing as well as have.

The oh-so-matey backslapping and hugging to Dunne was very cuntish.

I'm surprised at Dunne.

I guess it was sporting. Unlike Henry. You can't even say it was an instinctive handball - he controlled it twice with his hand

I'll actually cheer for England if they get to play France at the World Cup. *

fuck off, just because I wasn't supporting the Irish. As I said earlier in the thread I don't really like the Irish, and I won't just follow any of the home nations (incl Ireland) just because England weren't playing. I did feel a little (very small) sympathy for the Irish in the way the goal came about, but that's football (it can be very cruel).

Les Bleus were pretty poor, so I don't england or any of the other big guns have much to fear.

Steady on.

Yeah, what is a home nation?

Edit, it will be funnier to watch him answer it.

if you read carefully, I said home nations. Which when I last checked meant Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales. Ive only included Rep of Ireland, as they're well supported by people within the British Isles.

Don't include us. We're fine on our own.
