Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has been found dead at his home, police have confirmed.
His body was discovered at a house at Llwydcoed near Aberdare, Cynon Valley, at 5am this morning.
South Wales Police said the cause of death had not been established but there were no suspicious circumstances at this stage.
Mr Cable, 40, was sacked from the Stereophonics in 2003 and went on to host a rock show on Radio Wales.
His mother said told WalesOnline.com: "Stuart has travelled all over the world with the band and I have worried myself silly.
"He is now settled down and then this happens. It has not sunk in yet."
Stuart's brother Paul said: "The family has no further comment to make at this stage. It is in the hands of the police."
Cable grew up on the same street as former band mate Kelly Jones in Cwmaman in South Wales.
The pair played local working men's clubs before forming Stereophonics with Richard Jones in 1992.
But following a number of no shows at the band's 2001 world tour, Cable was sacked by letter in 2003.
He was replaced with Javier Weyler.
Huge cocktail of drugs?
Heart attack?
Asphyxiwank?
Shame though, at just 40
