Footy things that bug the shite out of you

Oh there's loads. I'll have a think. Yours has reminded me of one that does my head in and is very similar: people calling Sanchez Alexis.

Certain nicknames or shortened names people use for clubs. Chavski. Loserpool. ManUre. Even Man U. I don't know why but it makes them sound kiddish or something and I just want to punch them in the face.

Reactions: jan
Pundits praising the shit out of someone one day and totally slaughter them the Next with noone holding them accountable for their "original" view.

People shortening the names of players and managers (in particular from other clubs*) to initials:

RVP, LVG, VDV, AVB, TIT etc

* caveat as I have probably used VVD for our monster centre back, though I despise myself for it.

Linesmen who just look at the ref before raising their flag as if they haven't got a pair of eyes and a brain to do the job. In the CL, having the "extra" officlals on the same side of the goal as the linesman already is. Why not have them on opposite side of the goal so the ref gets one extra pair of eyes in each quarter of the pitch.

I do it because I can't be fucked typing out their full name if it's huge and double barrelled or whatever, rather than it being, as you seem to be suggesting, a cutesy affectation

The seeming (non) accountability of match officials.

Their job can be difficult (and that's why they are paid a good amount) but they essentially are making multi-million pound "calls" for or against clubs if they screw up. I would like to see a publicly released performance-based analyses of each referee and linesman at the end of each season to see if any bias or other traits can be detected, and to determine overall impact of obviously incorrect decisions.

If they are determined to be shite by some metric, then they should be held accountable and sacked. Instead, we get none of this information and we get the same fucking bollocks referees and linesmen year after year.

United fans and their inability to have any other blinkered view apart from their own.... those cunts get my goat every time.

Sean Dyches voice.... fuck me i hate listening to that gravel or piece of flob stuck in his throat.

Sky sports and their sensationalist bullshit... "when it suits them and their agenda"

Young fans who don't understand a team takes time to build....

I could go on.

It's all part of the brainless hyperbole around football (and everything else), but the incessant extreme views that go round in fucking circles and are always fucking bollocks really get on my tits.

You know the sort of thing:

1) Guardiola (or whatever cunt is currently at the richest club) "reinventing football"

2) "The Death Of...." tackling/ wingers/ possession football/ counter-attacking football/ defensive midfielders/ tall players/ small players/ box-to-box players/ specialist players/ non-specialist players

3) Pretending something is new by using a different word for it: "high press/ passing ("rotating possession")/ false 9/ trequartista/ volante (also linked: the description of anything as "old fashioned")

4) Wanking breathlessly over anything that is from a different country (and therefore better). (See also "reinventing football")

5) Asking someone in football their opinion on anything that isn't football. Like it fucking matters, has any value, or anyone cares. They're almost all thick as fuck and don't read books. (see also Guardiola's political views)

I Guess the worst one is People referring to VVD as VDV 😀

Transfer deadline days, ITK's, gossip

It's all too much, small doses were interesting but the windows are a chore now. I'm pretty sure some fans don't actually care about the matches now just the hype and all the shite surrounding the game.

Football matches that don't take place at 3 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon.

Calling the first division the premier league.

Football statistics that start with the dawn of the 'premier league'

Not being able to stand up at football matches.

Spastics taking pictures and videos instead of watching the match.

Corporate entertaining...fuck off.

I've got others, lots and lots of others.

I don't mind having a drink and something to eat at/ before/ during a match.

I quite like it, actually

All of the above, plus:

Multiple replays, while the action is going on, of everything from a player missing the goal by miles to a defender making a completely basic tackle. There's no need, and one of these days they're going to miss a goal because they're still on their fifth angle replay.

The ball being picked off that ridiculous plinth by the ref at the start of each game. Make it a wad of cash - that would be more apt.

Managers saying they're hoping to get a result. You're guaranteed a result, mate, you mean a good result.

Calling England 'The Three Lions'.

Players trying to take a corner outside of the corner arc, only to find the first defender. Milner now does indeed put the ball outside, and still takes crap corners.

Player ratings for goalkeepers. Unless a keeper has an absolute blinder, he always gets a 5 or 6. If he doesn't have anything to do, he gets marked down. What's he meant to do - run out and play outfield? And if he's in a crap team, saves a couple but concedes four, he'll get a higher mark. It must drive them all nuts.

Players shielding their mouths as they talk to each other. No one cares.

I don't understand taking the corner outside the arc

Like, what's that extra half yard gonna do?

Drop balls when the attacking team has possession

They're expected to give it back and I can't fathom why
