Sturridge is a very, very good player indeed, but the true greats did it day in, week out, year in, season out. If he were able to build up that kind of appearance record [pause for hollow laugh] I think he would indeed deserve comparison with the very best.

Yes, doing it over the long term is what he is missing. What a talent though and what an addition to our side he is everyone he comes back.

Depends what kind of goal you're talking about. I don't think we've ever had a better exponent of scoring spectacular goals than Suarez, but - though his general play was top class from the beginning - he actually didn't settle into his scoring groove until some time later. Besides Rushie, and Robbie to a slightly lesser extent, got the scruffy ones as well as the screamers from the beginning of their time at LFC.

Agree about Der Bomber. He was phenomenal.

In terms of sniffing up a chance that wasn't there or go for the impossible shot - find the space - make the right run - score the easy goals. I have to say that Suarez is the one. He is probably the only LFC player I would consider for a best World XI ever. I don't think we have had a single striker who is close to him in regards to goal scoring on any level. He is the natural and unnatural NO 1. I think you have to British to call it any other way. No offense.

I respect that view but I don't agree with it.

Incidentally many of you Scandoes do seem to have this notion that we always rate British players over-highly, which I also don't accept. Even if it were true, you lot are definitely not well placed to criticise such a tendency in others. 😉

I'm sure I read some total clown say recently that - at his peak - Thomas Brolin was one of the best players in the world. I may have dreamt it.
EDIT:
It was that fuckwit, Arn. Unsurprisingly: "Brolin was probably the best player in the world before he got his almost career ending foot injury"

Haha, fair play! I can honestly say that we have never seen a talent like Suarez in Denmark, let alone Scandinavia.

I don't think you have a tendency to overrate British players as such.... But God is God after all. I remember Rush clearly and to put him anywhere near Suarez is out of bounds in my book. Fowler might be close but seriously... Suarez is...well, you know, a league of his own.

In my humble opinion of course.
