Just had a quick look at the figures from the transfer window:

Net figures

Scum -152mill
City -163mill
Arse -85mill
Chelsea -85mill

Us +4mill

I know there has been 'an' increase in revenue from the tv deal, but it's not like its gone from teams getting 10mill, to 500mill.

So I presume no one will be pulled up about the above spending? And from a business point of view surely that spending has wiped out x years profit for these teams? I thought that the scum made overall the most profit for any football team in the world every year, and there's no way they're turning over 150mill+ profit a year.

How did you get to +4m when everyone else see's +11m?

The new TV deal does have a BIG impact.

While figures are somewhat subjective given "undisclosed" deals, this graphic is fairly fucking depressing:

Why is that depressing? We sold players Klopp didn't want, bought the players he did want and we" didn't waste any money on players who weren't his first choice", even though that's not actually true. And Ben Childwell is the only left-back good enough to play for Liverpool.

EVERYTHING IS FINE.

Yes, Ben Chilwell is the saviour, and is only really 'on loan' to Leicester. I see that now.

That graphic is a fucking trainwreck

If we finish 6th or 7th Klopp is going to come under serious fire.

I predicted 6th ages ago. Not changing it now, regardless.

But whatever happens this season, he should (and hopefully will) be given longer. I can't think of anyone better right now.

Although I've said that before, and it hasn't turned out well.

I just went on the transfermarkt figures, which had us at pretty much zero net spend, but hadn't included the Alberto deal, so I added that on.

I'm not so much worried about what we did/didn't spend, I'm interested in those spending 85-163mill and what FFP if it's still there would do, if anything now, or are clubs told not to bother paying any attention to it?

Yea don't get me wrong, I'm fully behind Klopp. But the twitter generation isn't a patient one. And the decision to not buy a DM AND not buy a left back is, let's be honest, fucking daft.

I think its pretty obvious Klopp had to reign in spending this season.... we sold off some assets that werent required at the best time. It may in time begin to look like a masterstroke, at present everyone is like headless chickens thinking we arent gonna get CL.... well tbh they probably budgeted for CL this season then had to back track on some targets I suspect.

I think we've got some good prospects brought in for little £££ such as Matip, Karius and Grujic... they will be worth 4x what they are now by next summer I bet.

In Klopp we trust, this geezer isnt stupid.

I hope Matip is worth a bit more than 4x what we paid for him.

As for the rest of your post, I'm confused. You seem to be very confident that FSG curtailed his spending, reduced his budget, ordered him to trim the wage bill, pulled out of transfers and yet Klopp "isn't stupid" and you have full trust in him, despite a total lack of backing from the owners of the club?

And what's CL football got to do with it? It's hardly a massive windfall compared to the squillions of Sky and BT money, and one season out of the CL - which again, I don't think FSG or anyone else expected last season - won't make fuck all difference, as evidenced by the fact that every single club in the league bar one, outspent us.

Klopp seems to be on the same page as the owners re transfers and dollar. He said it when he joined and reiterated that when he signed a new contract

CL doesnt have a monetary pull, agreed, but it does have an influence on the type of players we can attract.

The spending cutbacks probably come from the point of paying for the new stand and also as I see it balancing the books before a potential sale of the club / part of the club.

I take it you have no faith in Klopp then?

I do, but if I believed all of your post about FSG cutbacks, financial restraints and CL football etc etc and that he was understanding and complicit in it all, then I'd be really, really worried

And I'm already more than a bit worried

Obviously there is all this clamour for a new LB and perhaps a new DM, but we have serviceable players in those positions. I'm not bought in to the "James Milner is our LB therefore the sky is falling down" bullshit.

Also, the net spend is good since we got a ton of players off the books - at inflated values - that no one wanted anyway. That's called good business. They were only going to play if we have an injury crisis so who fucking cares?

In the final analysis we've trimmed the fat out of the club, we have several new good players and we will be in the mix for top four. It's obvious that Klopp has certain targets for certain positions and they are currently unavailable. All will become clear in the next 12 months. Calm the fuck down you bunch of fannies.

It's a funny thing, when we spend a lot it's wasteful and when we spend a modest amount it's because we lack ambition. Damned if you do and damned if you don't I guess.

Eh? It's only 'wasteful' when you spend it on shit players like Balotelli and Markovic, or overspend wildly on the likes of Lovren and Lallana.

We need to spend more money. We need to show more ambition.

Looking at our net spend and wage reduction and claiming a famous victory for prudence isn't going to win us any trophies

When you spend money initially you don't know whether those players are going to be good, bad or indifferent so simply spending money isn't a plan.

Seems to me that Klopp had ample opportunity to see what was out there in terms of transfers and didn't fancy anything beyond the deals he did early.

We've spent plenty over the years, the scattergun approach has been replaced with careful choices.

What, so you are satisfied he explored all available transfer options?

Wow

Wow

Like you I have no clue how extensive his exploration of available transfer options was. Neither, like you, do I know whether he thought additional transfer activity was needed. Nor do we know if he equates spending money with ambition. We're both guessing.

If I were you I'd give up trying to second guess whether I or Klopp are 'satisfied' because it would require a special talent for mind reading which I'm confident you don't possess.

You said he was satisfied in your post

Or are you just guessing?

As you know I didn't say satisfied. Sentence starts with "seems" and says (he) "didn't fancy anything beyond the deals he did early". Clear.

And, of course, like you, I'm guessing what he did or had in mind.

I trust Klopp to bring us success so couldn't give a f*ck what that table says.

We are bottom of it and I guarantee we will be ahead of the majority of them come the end of the season.

We always finish above the majority of them. It's the minority 6 or 7 that we don't that are the issue.
