Fergie to retire (confirmed)

There is NO WAY Mourinho will take over after Ferguson. He isn't stupid - he doesn't take jobs where he can't outdo the previous manager. He can't outdo Ferguson with one of his 2-3 year managerial stints ...

I hope next year begins the collapse of Manure.

Regardless of the stature of the club (or perhaps because of it in some ways), taking over from that old scrote will be the most poisoned chalice in football. Mourinho may manage them one day, but I'll be gobsmacked if he does so immediately after Ferguson. Whoever they do get now, I reckon Mourinho could well be the one to take over from *him*.

It will be especially difficult as he will be moving upstairs. Imagine having that job with him looking over your shoulder.

I think it'll take a little bit longer.

we need them to have a spell of transfer windows like we had under Rafa.

For e its a bit like the Prods who hate the Pope. When he dies theres always another fucker to take his place.

My manc mate reckons Blanc to get job

The thing that's kept Utd going even when they haven't had great teams has been Ferguson not taking any shit from his players. Would Mourinho be able to do the same and rule with an iron fist? I don't think he could. Will be interesting to see who does take over.

This will certainly make next year interesting..

No matter who takes over they have a decent squad and will give the new manager some money to invest in the players he wants, will he buy the right players though, that s the question.

As a Liverpool fan I despise him but living in N.Ireland and I'll probably get lambasted for this, he`s done an awful lot for youth football over here with his unwavering support of the Milk Cup even in the early days. He also played a full strength team against an Irish League select side in aid of a former player Harry Gregg. Some of the greatest Irish players have played under him - Keane, Irwin, Mal Donaghy, Healy, Evans. Apart from that he's a cunt autocratic, domineering bully who got away with murder.

Darren Ferguson 250-1 to take over. Get your money on. Robbie is 500-1. And according to bookmakers Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Eric Cantona are a more likely choice than Rafa. Houllier is 949-1.

The end of utd's spell as top dog. Thank fuck for that. Good riddance to the old cunt. This day just about tops that one where that bloke punched him in the balls.

What lovely news to wake up to. Whichever way you look at it that's utd a bit fucked!

The only thing I find sad about his retirement is that he was never put in his place by a Liverpool manager since he first won the league.
I so wanted Rafa to be the one to do it.

My older brother who's a life long Man U fan is saying that Ferguson retiring is good for them.
He makes it sound like Ferguson has been holding them back by not replacing Scholes, Giggs etc.
They'll go on to compete with Bayern, Barca and Real now.

Well there was that lovely 1-4 thrashing at Old Trafford we inflicted.

🙂

If they go for Moyes then i reckon he'll just be a figurehead with fergie pulling the strings and giving advice to keep them going until he feels Moyes knows the manure way. Or they could go for someone like Klopp who would be a perfect fit for them, but there's no way he'd want advice from fergie on doing the job but could easily still succeed. Either way im not expecting them to fall apart. Most probably won't win the title next season but will still be up there.

The new manager will have purple nose browsing over them the whole time. That won't be easy.

I am betting on an ex utd player getting it
