Fabinho leaving?

United are heavily linked, so hopefully we can pip them to another

Of course, no thread on rumours is complete with @King Binny showing me why I'm misguided

Regarding age and league, Palhinha was signed at around 26 having only played in the Portuguese league. Not seen Amrabat play much but I mean there's always exceptions.

Don't want to get my hopes up, but if you have a few mins to waste check out this vid:

He'd become an instant fan favourite

Mascherano or no?

During last season there was lots of people saying we should just go and sign the next Caicedo. So some unknown from a lesser league and then along them in the team and hope for the best. Now everyone wants a proven first team replacement for Fab. Can't really have it both ways.

Maybe Lavia is somewhere in the middle. Young but with a bit of experience in the league. He might need to be the guy since all the other options are too expensive.

So they’ve actually put their money where their mouth is? I hope we’ve already accepted it?

Now I think I deserve my apology from everyone that said we couldn’t get more than 50p for him.

It’s ok, I can wait!!!!

So have I got it right that the theory is Real buy Mbappe and fund it by selling Tchoumani?

if that happens how far down the Q would we be and how unrealistic will the fee be?

Every DM stat analysis I've seen recently. Whether it be videos on D.Rice, or stats on a DM profile Liverpool need. Consistently in the top 5 are two names. Rodri (who we will never get) and Touchameni.

He has the right balance of heading/height, interceptions, tackling and progressive passes. Only thing he does not do so well on is ball carries.

For me, if we can play the waiting game, I think it's worth doing.

Let's wait and see if PSG want to sell Mbappe this summer and Madrid need money by selling him.

I had a look at the squad and we currently have 17 foreign players. If Fabs leaves that opens up a spot for another foreign player.
So I guess we don't have to buy a HG player.
But I didn't count Pitaluga among the 17, but I did count Robbo as he apparently is "foreign".

Pitaluga is under 21 so doesn't have to be registered anyway.

I make it 15 including Adrian now

Alisson
Adrian
Van Dijk
Konate
Tsimikas
Robertson
Matip
Thiago
Szoboszlai
Mac Allister
Diaz
Nunez
Salah
Gakpo
Jota

Who am I missing?

We're at 16 presently. Down to 15 if Fabinho leaves

The one we will have to register for the europa league only.. is Ben Doak.

Some odd rule according to other websites.

For the league he doesn't need to be registered and next year he doesn't need to be registered.

Amrabat is 27, and has spent his entire career playing in lesser leagues and for mid-table teams like Utrecht, Verona and Fiorentina. The only thing going for him is that he had a good World Cup. He's like a better version of Salif Diao.

Exactly this. If we replace Fabs with this rubbish we are muppets!

We might have Sepp back next season if he performs well in Germany obviously
Cain and Clarkson already goners.

Considering Jones now classes as officially homegrown, I don't anyone else on that list making the cut.

He is right about Amrabat but Gini and Fab himself were never meant to be players that transformed this club from mediocrity into PL/CL winners....same goes for Mane and Salah who were both playing at lesser clubs until they were 25/26. Robbo Matip etc weren't seen as massive signings who could transform this club, but they did.

If we do end up with say an Amrabat and he brings his WC form to us for 3-4 years, it's money well spent.

Also go have a look at the top 20 all time record transfers in Europe and you can count on 1 hand have many have met/exceeded expectations.
