This draw would be over by now if Rosenthal didn't keep waffling away. Good one for us for a change.

Liverpool has faced Southend United only 5 times in their history, All in the FA cup 3rd round (Including 2 replays).

Last time we played Southend in the FA Cup, 1979 3-0 win, Kenny Dalglish was one of the scorers.

City play United in the FA Cup 3 days before facing us in the League Cup, and Spurs 4 days before the other leg .....

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Raheem is involved in some capacity. A sweetener for signing his pro contract.

Paul Dickov admitted Oldham Athletic had reached their ‘cup final’ after booking a trip to Anfield to face Premier League giants Liverpool in the FA Cup third round.

Chris Taylor’s second-half winner helped Oldham edge past League Two Southend in their second round replay last night, and set up a game that could bank the Latics around £200,000.

“The club has been starved of success lately,” said Dickov.

“I know people will say it’s only the third round. But we said when the first round was drawn, our cup final would be getting to the third round and getting a Premier League club.

“For the feel-good factor for us and for the town, as well as the financial reasons, it’s massive.

“It’s fantastic. There will be a right buzz around the place going into the New Year now. Everyone at the club deserves it.”

Dickov admitted the prospect of a trip to Anfield had caused Oldham to put in a nervy performance against Southend, who were forced to play more than half the game with 10 men after Bilel Mohsni’s dismissal. “I’m not particularly pleased with the performance but it was all about getting into the next round,” said Dickov.

“I’m proud of the players. We know we can play better but I felt we were a little bit nervous.

“As much as I tried to keep thoughts of the next round away from them, they all knew it was there. I thought it was a very nervy performance.

“The main thing is we’re going to Anfield. I’m extremely proud to be taking this group of players, the fans and everyone involved with the club into a massive tie.”
