Expectation for coming season

I forgot Aguero (KDB is a midfielder) Thats not the point. They can only play three of them up front

In the middle they have nothing after the three starters

The difference is they can bring on 3 subs that arguably as good as whoever they take off,

We don't. Even with our additions.

The last however many years have taught me not to expect anything from Liverpool.

The optimism is largely reliant on a couple of our new signings being as good as we need / want them to be and the front line staying fit.

Lot of 'ifs'.

It'd be nice to progress towards the final stages of the CL just to show everyone (including our own players) that last season wasn't a fluke and mount a meaningful challenge in the league without finishing in a scrap for fourth. In an ideal world we'd win something as well, of course.
Christ Ken thats the fucking Beige-est Grey-est answer to the question ever.
I picture a tiny cloud hovering above you at your laptop as you type that, but its just spitting.

Like we win the champions league yeah pat?
*rolls eyes*
Youre done punditing.
Go and back a cake or something.

Freak accident aside we win that final.
That's football.

You've predicted we are winning the league every year for a decade. You must be worthy of competing on the great British bake off at this stage.

Up front yes. Im not arguing with that. Why are you repeating it. I said their options are better up front.

I think City benefited from a false air of invincibility for the first half of last season, if we'd have beaten or drawn with them in the Mane red card game, I don't think so many of the lower table sides would have approached the game as if they'd already lost. After the games when we and United absolutely dicked them, their games with the lower league sides were much closer, and they looked much more vunerable, over the course of a season, I think that would have made a difference.

Ha ha benefitted? They were fucking amazing. They completely deserved that air of invincibility.

As Tom Brown says, Chelsea finished the 16/17 season with 93 points. Were almost unstoppable as they banked 30 wins in a brilliant campaign.
City finished on 78, 15 points further back.
That was just 2 points ahead of us that year.

All they did was sort out their defence and keeper.
We have done that too.

I dont think its anywhere near as simple as 25 points is too much to make up.
Leicester won the league in 15/16 ffs.

Our team is mustard. Its our year.
#ifwesignabackuptobobby

That's all fair but the big difference is that the team that won the league last year isn't falling apart and finishing with 50 odd points this season.

Youre boring me now. We can all predict the best team last year is the best team this year patrick. Pretty sure they will be favourites too.

But maybe allow yourself to see that its not set in stone. And that they have NEVER defended their title in spite of the billions ploughed in. And that the last time a team won back to back titles in this country was a decade ago and that 10 teams have won one and failed to defend it since then.

Try to accept that City didnt end the season as well as they finished it. And that teams had a go at them later in the season and they lost games.

Try to see that our LB is one of the best in the league. So is our 75m CB. So is our LWF. So is our RWF. So is our CF.
Try to see that we have a LIST of CM to chose from that no one else has. Try and see we have a good manager who beat an u beatable Bayern to the title a couple of times.

Try to see that Mahrez, Keita, Fabinho, Alisson etc being brought in effects what happened last season.

Or dont. Just wave a white flag.
Fucking Pussyole.

Klopp will only concentrate on the league and champions league.

It would be nice to win a trophy though with current record it may prove tricky 3rd place and trophy is would be an success and depending on how close we finish to city.

I would argue their midfield is better then ours too.

The signings we've made will make a difference but any injury and we are fucked again

If the season started in November they still would have walked it. Everyone has lost their minds.

City have actually broken the league. Take them out of it and it'd be a great season with 4 teams in the hunt.

As it is they'll win it again comfortably.
You spectacularly missed my point I see.

City will clearly still be favourites and may very well walk the league again

But record breaking seasons don't happen every season.

They'll see their arse as everyone saw in march how to beat them.

I agree with most of that. Yeah we've got some of the best players in the league playing for us. However, I still think we're an injury or two away from being severely weakened. Really wish Ox wasn't injured and we signed Fekir, also I love Sturridge but I'm not sure if he's the same player anymore.

Agreed. But then I genuinely think the team the luckiest with injuries usually wins the title.
Last season City lost no one but aguero for a couple of games and Kompany, year before I dont think Chelsea lost anyone, same with Leicester the season before.

We had Sturridge, Lallana, Can, Matip, Moreno, Lovren, Mane, Ox, Henderson all out for swathes of the season.
It would be nice if this year was our turn for not having half a squad injured.

Everything. We’re going to win everything. Because we’re going to be boss. Fucking boss.

Expect: Top 3 and CL QF

Hope: Second and CL SF

Dream: Champions and back-to-back CL finals

i think we will win the league. the dynamic of our new midfield is absolutely fucking superb.

My expectations for the coming season is that we win a trophy and Klopp stops dodging them. We'll potentially have the worlds most expensive goalkeeper, worlds most expensive defender, the worlds best forward based on form, and we play amazing attacking football. He's got to win something this season, and I expect top 4 minimum and a good run in all the cups.

All the cups? Karius, Moreno, Matip and a few kids will probably start for us in the domestic cups, a run of more than two games seems like it should be the limit of our expectations.

I think we’ll have a similar season to last year. I’m still not sure our defense is good enough or organized well enough, much of our midfield is new and they won’t all work out, I’d also think us fortunate to get through the whole season without injuries and disruptions to our front three- a lot depends on the attacking talent we have in reserve.

It’d still be a disappointment if we don’t make top 4 and have a good cup run though.

With Virgil playing a full season, a world-record breaking Goalkeeper, and also a DM signed, if that defence doesn't improve massively, Klopp needs shooting.
