This lad has got some sexy skills AND he can defend.

Coates looks capable too.

Enrique was fine today, but struggled at times (like our whole team) due to our team not having a minute to hold the ball.

i also thought coates did ok. Yes he could have stayed closer to defoe for the second, but he thought he'd cut out the ball before the pass

Stevie back - Carroll sacked off and the natural balance will return.

Enrique kept dribbling in the wrong areas today and shouldn't have let Defoe turn for his goal. He was ok today but nothing amazing.

As I said in the match thread ... I love Enrique. Are we sure he's a FB ? His skills make him look more like a forward ! And he can really defend too.

Rate Enrique highly but he struggled today. Not helped by any means by the way we were set up.

His could have defended better on occasions. Still looks quality going forward.

Changed that

No doubt people will think I'm nitpicking, but he *is" defensively suspect.

Mind you, everyone was brutal today/yesterday/whatever fucking day it was.

- A tackle success of 88.89%, second only to Patrice Evra, but a distance away from the rest.
- Dribbled past the least, 3 times in ten games.
- Shields the ball out of play the more than his rivals, displaying his strength.
- Plays the majority of his game in the oppositions half – 65% of all of his passes to be precise.
- Plays the highest amount of passes in the Final Third as compared to his rivals.
- Astonishingly plays 78% of his passes forward, a higher percentage than his rivals.
- Has already created more goals for Liverpool FC in comparison to last season at Newcastle United.
- Is well on the way to create a lot more chances than last year (19 in 10 games with LFC, 30 in 36 games with NUFC).
- Has achieved the most successful dribbles out of those compared so far this season.
- Needs to start taking a few shots on goal!

Those stats make impressive reading, it is nice after all the years we now have good solid fullbacks in our side.

Kelly Enrique, defo my first choice in terms of fullbacks..

I'm not sure why people are so intent on him being a success. He's been solid but far from fantastic - maybe its just the fact that he is solid and dependable; everything that Aurelio isn't. It is a relief to see some stability in the position but I don't think Evra etc have anything to worry about at this point.

Why would you not want a Liverpool player to be a success ? Sorry Wiz, doesn't make sense that. He's been an excellent signing as well and is proving to be a very good player from which I'm sure there's more to come.

I'm starting to think Ryan and Wizardry are the same person.

well someone has to agree with what he says, so yes that would make sense 😉

Its been a long time since we had a left back this solid and dependable. He has been brilliant!
[/quote]

People seem to forget about John Arne Riise who was a fantastic servant to the club, doesn't get half the credit he deserves. Enriques been impressive and looks like he's got all the attributes to be a top class player for us but it's still to early to judge if he'l be a long term success likewise with Carrol and Henderson.

Agree to a point Wiz, but I'm happy to admit he's been better than that I think.

There are still question marks over him defensively for me, and I'm absolutely certain we're going to concede a ridiculously stupid goal at some stage on account of him trying to walk/pass his way out of the 6 yard box.

He's been excellent going forward, so much so that we could just leave Downing out and let Enrique run the left wing on his own.

Evra? ahahahaha. he's been comical this last 18 months or so. brutal.

Enrique's just a top a player, not surprised though because when i already knew what kind of player he was before he signed.
Quick, strong as an ox, good on the ball. I don't think see many weaknesses in his game, only thing maybe is he can hold on to the ball too long...that's about it.

Maybe I didn't express that correctly. Of course we want every LFC player to be a success. What I meant is that everyone seems so intent on convincing themselves that he has been excellent come what may.

On cue Peatchy's comment is pretty much what I'm talking about. I said the same thing - he's been solid, dependable. At what point that translates to brilliant is my question. He's being lauded as the best thing we've seen in generations - he's not. He's been good.... sometimes very good...... but not great. I'm happy he's been good, I'm happy he's been solid but all the OTT praise that he's been a sensation is really getting on my tits.

I said near the exact same a few weeks ago . I do like him alot but like you i expect him to be the cause of one insane howler before the seasons end . Also at times he looks a little slow to react when runners go past him , relying on his pace to correct his positioning . He's got away with it so far but he might be punished in future .

But yeah all in all he's been a very good signing and i do enjoy watching him going forward .

Wiz, I think people are fawning over him for a number of reasons. Those who supported him from the off will feel vindicated by the early promise he has shown. Those, like me, who weren't too excited about his arrival are pleasantly suprised with how well he has settled and are now eager to support a player they once perhaps derided a bit. Also the fee now looks a bargain so perhaps he has exceeded expectation due to his paltry price tag alone. He also has two assists to his name and rarely allows an attacker get down the line. I like how he tries his best to stop a cross coming in from his side. Kelly does this too whereas Glen has a habit of allowing the winger make his cross. We've been starved of a quality LB for a while now so it's refreshing to have one who didn't cost an arm and a leg.

I said from the off that I find him indulgent at times. He will take chances and stay on the ball a bit too long at times when getting rid or a quick pass was the better option. However, he is yet to be found guilty of that so he has my full support. Yeah a few posters are going OTT but why not fawn over him? Can't hurt anyone and it's not that delusional to think he's a very good player for us.

Re: Enrique

Wasnt a surprise for those who saw him in the Championship.
