So, Sturridge and Welbeck are back.
Who makes the Euro squad?

Kane, Rooney, Vardy, Sturridge, Welbeck to pick from.
Did I miss anyone?

Rooney is guaranteed a place due to the captaincy I guess, but he doesn't deserve to start.

Sturridge is imo, Englands best striker. Hodgson will definitely pick him.

Vardy and Kane are the in form new boys.

Welbeck just scored the winner for Arsenal and has been favoured by Hodgson before.

I think he'll pick all of them. Would be a bit unfair if Vardy doesn't make it.

kane, sturridge, vardy and rooney will go. Don't think he will take anymore than 4 strikers. Would hardly call kane the in form new boy though seeing as how he's been banging them in for nearly 2 seasons now. Quality player.

If players were picked on form not reputation, then heading that list would be be Kane and Vardy. They never are, though, are they? And England always stinks up at major tournaments as a result.

You think Kane and Vardy starting instead of Rooney and Sturridge would sort out the problems?

For me, Wellbeck should be the one to miss out. Sturridge should start if close to being fit, and so should Rooney. Kane is next in line, and Vardy probably won't get more than a few minutes.

Kane is a bit different to the rest of them. Gives you a bit more hold up play up front. He goes.

Rooney is the captain and still a quality player (Plus experienced at this level - Counts for a lot in tournaments) - He goes.

Sturridge is the best striker England have - He goes.

So its between Vardy and Welbeck for the 4th place. I personally would take Welbeck. He's done it at International level, and is a good player, despite what some people think. He works his bollocks off and pops up with vital goals (as shown on Sunday).

Vardy is a poor man's Sturridge in my opinion. He doesn't have anything that Sturridge wouldn't offer, maybe works a bit harder but doesn't have anywhere near the ability. And England will not be set up to play like Leicester do, so that works against him.

Kane, Rooney, Welbeck, Studge for me.

England will probably play more like Leicester does which makes a compelling case for a Vardy type player. The problem with England is we take the best players and not the most balanced team. 'twas ever thus.

I dont think England will play anything like Leicester at all. England play a passing game.

Not saying that is the right way to go, but its what they do.

On Match of the day at the weekend old hodgepodge was on, he was asked about strikers for the summer and mentioned all of the above BAR daniel Sturridge

Assuming Sturridge stays fit, only Hodgson could be dense enough to leave him at home. For me it has to be Vardy, Kane, Sturridge. I'd take Rooney, but I think the team needs to be liberated of his presence, he'd be a great bench option, but that would never happen as we have a manager with the strength of a paper towel, as a result he'd get shoehorned into the team at the teams expense.

Kane and Sturridge should start up top for England, and to be fair, that has to potential to be a devastating pairing.

This will never happen but for a 23 man squad, i'd go with something like this:

---------------------------------------Hart---------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------Smalling------Morgan----------------------------
------Clyne---------------------------------------------------Bertrand-------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------Dier-------------Henderson--------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------Barkley-------------------------------------
----------------Alli-------------------------------------------Sterling-----------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Sturridge-------------------------------------

Butland
------------------
Kyle Walker
Scott Dann
Stones
Cresswell
------------------
Drinkwater
Milner
Albrighton
Walcott
------------------
Kane
Vardy
Rooney

You haven't seen England at the last two tournaments, then. England gets harried off the ball and hence launch the ball forward more often than they pass it. I tell you, in a Hodgson team, Vardy and Kane will be more useful than Sturridge and Wellbeck. And Rooney just stinks the place up-- he doesn't fit.

I'm not sure he will. He's performed pretty well at International level and is quite versatile too.

If Studge is fit, I think he will.
Kane and Rooney will go. Vardy offers something else and is in great goalscoring form this season. Welbeck will have to have a very good second half of the season to get in. He doesnt score enough goals either.

Yeah, I think that is about right. Sturridge and Welbeck have been injured forever, but they will probably both go. Woy likes Welbz. Vomit. And as discussed, he is he capable of playing out wide.

On form, Vardy and Kane should start, but not sure where that would leave Rooney. Still, a decent enough range of options for England.

Out of that lot you'd have to say the best proven goalscorers are arguably Sturridge and Kane, but neither has ever done much internationally. Good options to have though, Woy should be quite happy with that lot

Just realized today that England play a pair of international friendlies in late March. Great chance for Hodgson to crock Sturridge again and render moot this discussion.

He's captain. It's inevitable if he's fit.

I don't agree with him being captain or playing but I'm not Roy Hodgson!
Oh, I know. The point is he'll most likely not be match fit. I've just heard fat head on talksport making the case for picking him, claiming he's got to go if he's a recovered.

We never learn.
