El Game Vs Augsburg At Home

This game might give Klopp somewhat of a headache considering the league cup final 3 days later.

The result against Augsburg wasn't exactly terrible but I would have been more comfortable if we managed to win (obviously) or get an away goal.

The big question is, do we field a strong a team or a weakened team? Or maybe a mix?

Personally I'd go for the strongest team possible. We really need to stay in the EL.

Start Origi up top against augsberg, Sturridge (if fit) against city.

Then I've no clue

We do have options though.
Caulker, Lucas, Lallana, Benteke, Smith, Flanagan, Texeira could all start against Augsburg.

Klopp made an interesting comment about this in the press conference before the first leg I think. Basically suggested that the occasion itself (a final) would / should be big enough to push the same players who played the midweek game to be up for it even with little rest / recovery time. I hope he's right.

Best available team for both games for me.

Take coutinho and Sturridge off early regardless of the result and we'll be fine. If it goes to et and the final doss as well we'll be fucked

We should be able to play a game at home, and then a final at Wembley, after a weeks rest, without any trouble.

The Dublin Liverpool flight I just got home on was full of the smelly bastards. Looked more like they were off to Download.

We have to go out to beat Augsburg. Winning the EL is our only hope of Champions League football next season and playing in a final is its own motivation. Plus, some of our players could do with the extra game time like Sturridge and Coutinho.

Anyways, 3 days is plenty. I used to play Saturday afternoon and then Sunday morning.

They are shite. We should be able to rest a few and still fucking hammer them.

Something like
Mignolet
Flanno
Kolo
Sakho
Smith

Allen
Lucas
Ibe
Lallana

Benteke
Origi

Should be plenty good enough and keeps Sturridge, Coutinho, Firmino, Henderson, Can, Milner, Lovren all rested for the weekend.

Can we really win the EL??

Is so we have to play a strong team.
Wouldn't write off our chances, but there's still fairly strong sides left in it. Spurs, Dortmund, Basel....
No disrespect to Midtjylland either😀

... and because the winner gets into CL, we play a strong team.

Separate question: If Europa winner also qualifies for CL via league position, does the extra spot to go league or Europa losing finalist?

Sturridge and Coutinho will start imo. Klopp hinted at it being important for both of them to start games in order to get back their rhythm.

Bring Coutinho on after twenty minutes, because he rarely does anything for the first twenty minutes anyway. Let him score a long range shot, play an assist for Studge to score, then sub him again and take Studge off, too.

I think you're forgetting that we're fairly shit too. I don't think that starting team has enough about it.

Isn't Lallana injured?

Mignolet
Clyne Caulker Sakho Smith
Lucas
Milner Coutinho Firmino
Origi Sturridge

Ming
Clyne Toure Sakho Moreno
Hendo Can
Ibe Firmino Coutinho
Sturridge

Bring on Milner and Origi after 60 mins for Studge and Coutinho

They were all going off their tits on Victoria St before. Looks like they're marching from town to the ground. Fair play they're having a laugh dead loud but they are the worst bunch of wools I've ever seen. It's like the Southport air show.
