Well JH is certainly putting his money where his mouth is and faith in Kenny and Damien. That must be close to £50m we have spent so far this window.
I think it's great, we identify who we want and go and get them, I think that's what successful teams do. That seems to be three first choice signings.
British players who won't get home sick, see things in the long term (hopefully) and families that don't live in other continents.
I am starting to think we stand a good chance of breaking back into the top four.

What's more perplexing/frustrating/mindnumbing is that we could have speent double that and more, and most of you would still be wheeling out youtube clips/in Kenny we trust/Carroll's head/etc etc as some sort of justitification. It doesn't make you less of a fan to admit that this is an unbelievably exhorbitant fee for a slightly-better-than-average footballer that frankly - not one of you wanted 2 months ago.

Ha, I know on this wave of euphoria people believe we are going to challenge for the Prem, and that's great, and nothing is impossible, and nothing would give me greater joy, but we have to do things in stages. As it stands now even if we finish 5th next season that is progress, and with a team starting to be filled with young British talent that , would bode well for the following year. That position is also the minimum requirement.
However as I see it we can now go a stage further than my rather unambitious minimum, and a CL spot is a reality and not to be scoffed at.
I am sure Kenny will have the same thing in his head - a single minded ambition to get into that top four and once we get back into the CL we will really be in a position to break down walls and take back our crown and secure our finances. If we try and fly too high too soon we could burn our wings, no fourth will do me - this year.

The fee reflects the rarity of the player i.e. English left footed winger and he fact that Villa didn't want to sell. We can afford it so I don't see what the problem is with the fee, which really is the going rate for an English international and Premier league proven midfield player.
At the end of the season we'll see if your right and King Kenny's wrong but with all due respect out of his judgement and yours, I know which one I'd rather back.
