Having just read the other thread about naming rights, plus John Henry's recent interview thread, I'm getting the impression that people feel the money brought in from that will be put towards a new stadium or a rebuilding job of Anfield.
Now I'm not saying that it won't be the case, but the impression I got from Henry's interview was this:
In the current financial climate, spending the amount it takes to create a new stadium for the sake of 15k extra seats is not really viable. Going through the process of expanding Anfield, when the likelihood of it happening is slim due to the reasons discussed previously makes it another situation that's not really viable.
So what can the club do to increase anual revenue over a ten to fifteen year span that's equivalent to or greater than the total gained by a 15k increase in seats? Not to mention the total outlay of 0 pounds?
A naming rights deal for the current stadium.
Obviously they can spend some of the revenue in renovating Anfield, but most of it can go towards running cost and transfer fees.
Am I making sense or talking total bollocks?
