Do YOU remember Luis Garcia vs Juventus?

What a game that was. Hyypia put us ahead early ... Garcia scores a cracker ...

Scott Carson i think made his debut in goals for us?? ... and pulled off a great save from a Del Piero shot ... had another disallowed for being offside, although incorrectly i think??

First half was all ours.

Then Juve make the sub that turned the game around ... the veteran Pessotto comes off the bench into centre midfield and takes the game by the balls ... controlled everything in the 2nd half he did ... Juve back in the game courtesy a Cananvaro goal .... all setup perfectly for a tense return leg in Turin!

I knew Roopy would show up to bum the Italians as soon as I saw Juventus mentioned.

This thread has descended to an all new low. Lets get a couple of things straight:

1: Smicer was shit. Not a legend.
2: Garcia was a better player. Not a legend.
Don't go hyperbole but Smicer wasn't shit.
Far from it.

Whatever. He wasn't a fucking legend.

Has it come to the stage where Liverpool supporters are a lot more easily pleased?
I didn't say he was a legend but he wasn't shit.
Shit players don't score in European cup finals.
End of.

Others seem to think he's a legend.

And just because he scored in Istanbul it doesn't take him out of the "Shit" category either. People's expectations have definitely dropped.

There will be a world class tweet every 3 or 4 weeks, the rest of the time it'll be analogies that dont really work and frustrating long winded rambles.

I did not realize that there was objective criteria for definition of a legend. I was not fortunate enough to witness the great teams of the past and watch Dalglish, Rush, Souness, Barnes in action.

Smicer, Garcia loved our club and played an important role in one of the greatest nights I have ever witnessed as a fan. For that they will be legends. And I am sure an entire generation of LFC fans will treat them that way.

Djimi Traore is a legend. Remember the goal line clearance in the CL final? Ah, and his cross to Biscan against Bolton.
What great memories, proper legend. He's up there with Hansen, Carra and Ruddock.

You don't rate Carra. I'm guessing you don't rate Ruddock (I certainly don't). But why have you included Hansen in your sarcasm?

Was it against Everton that he played most of the match while injured?

Lazy my arse. The boy was a magician and had the heart of a lion.

We had two 1 in 4 wingers in our team back then, and people mostly bitched about them being not good enough.

Some heartless bastards in this thread

Surprised you watch football and don't just check results at the end of the day and put them in a database.

So was Igor Biscan

He was, people forget this, he played a major part while Gerrard was out,his performances against Depor and Leverkusen were great, that pass for Garcia was exceptional too. I always have fond memories of the guy.

I think everyone that contributed to that entire Champions League run should be automatically granted legendary status, including Troare, Dio and Biscan. They may have been shit but fans will remember those games forever.

If any of those players decide to turn up for the Liverpool master team then I will welcome them with open arms, even if Troare manages to score a scissor kick into his own net against Tranmere over 45s I will forgive him because I will always will have one good memory of him*.

*Don't get me wrong, when Liverpool game him a 4 year contract in 2005 I was raging.

I'll remember these players as good players who overachieved unlike the average bunch we have now who are achieving fuck all and shitting themselves when they come up against a half decent side.

DIO? Well I guess "holy diver" would be a good description of Gerrard after his dive in the final.
