Dirk off ?

Does it matter that much though LTW? Weigh up the evidence, the words of a paper we don't believe in against a man who's been a pillar of integrity and professionalism (not to mention a big heart and love for the club) over the last 6 years.

One of my favourite off-field Dirk quotes, when Channel 5 was asking him about the police horse that had just sat on his car and dented it.

INTERVEWER: There are a few police horses out there tonight, Dirk. Which one should we be looking for?
DIRK: The one with the fat arse.

The only evidence we really have is a) the article and b) what the journalist said. Despite that, I tend to believe Dirk was 'tricked' into speaking to those twats ...

... That being said, I'm sorry but a player I'd give the title of 'pillar of integrity and professionalism' wouldn't have slammed his manager in the tabloids for not playing him enough. As I said, his last few months were very disappointing from a man who - until then - had earned that title.

You see, this is the point I was getting at regarding posters looking for something that by and large, isn't there. He 'slammed' his manager. Really? He said he was unhappy not playing.

Seriously, I think players should just stop giving interviews, they're damned whatever they say.

He said he's not getting the chance to play under this manager, at a time when kennys position was in doubt.

Little arsey really.

Little arsey really.

He said he wasn't playing and wasn't happy, the position of the manager is irrelevant to that really.

He started 20 games in the league Mark ... that's 'not playing'? Come on ... He went after a manager, who was already on the hot seat ... Sorry, I'd rather players keep that in house. If you feel that falls under integrity and professionalism, no problemos - it's just I don't.

He said he wasn't playing and wasn't happy, the position of the manager is irrelevant to that really.

But he mentioned the manager. Other players :"wish I was playing more"

Dirk SPECIFICALLY mentioned kenny. Dirk made it relevant

I never said that. I said throughout his Liverpool career he has. Which is true.

People seem to be on an agenda here, quelle surprise it's many of the posters that were vocal about not being his biggest fan.

The arguement is pointless. He wasn't happy not playing for the club and made a point of saying it. You know, Steven Gerrard left a sour taste for many several years ago with the comments he made. Now he's a pillar of the club again. It's a long career of ups and downs and most of it's well documented. For every negative interview by well meaning players, there's dozens of positive ones. Such is life. I don't see why he's getting crucified for it now.

He's gone, most of you should be happy.

“But it is a disappointment that I did not play (against Everton). I expected to come on, and if that happens, you hope to be the first to come on. But that was not to be.”

“I will do everything to ensure that in the third final I prove my worth with a goal.”

Terrible that lads.

Why happy?

This old chestnut again of wanting him sold because he's offered nothing ever?

FFS

I didn't WANT him to go. Few did. People just didn't think he deserved to start.

And who's questioning that!

We're talking about the piece in The Lying Rag! You're talking about his career!

I don't get what he's said that's so condemning, he told the truth about how he felt. Perhaps it shouldn't have come out in the press, he wasn't criticising the manager or making a difference to the pressue he was under, he was saying he felt undervalued and that he still had something to offer, and that he loved the club. You guys are the ones heading the fucking with hunt.

“Under this manager I don’t have the feeling any more that he will put me in the side every week," Kuyt told The Lying Rag.

“I’m under no illusion about playing every week. But I believe I am still good enough to play for Liverpool every week. My physical stats are better than ever before.

“Last season I was scoring goals all over the place. But this season the manager bought three players who all played in my position. In the rotation system he used, I never found my rhythm again and never felt my old self.

“Deep in my heart I’d love to stay at Liverpool so I could have full revenge on everyone in my final season at the club.”

If we're going to nitpick and be selective. Does anyone want to address the final comment which gave balance to the interview, that he loved us and wanted to play to get his own back on the rest of the league?

No? Thought not.

Yet he didn't want to see if Rodgers wanted to play him.

But yeah. No qualms of him leaving, he deserves to play as he seemed like a good lad.

The argument (which you've now turned into a "dirks a shit footballing antichrist" argument) was about "could he clarify if he talked to The Lying Rag"

I don't need HJC to tell me how I feel. Dirk should have clarified it. The fact that the journalist went on radio to confirm he spoke to The Lying Rag struck me as odd.

Mark, I get you liked him and are a staunch defender of his. But can you not see why people might be put out over it?

Course I can, I just think people have gone over the top about it. The journo felt the need to 'announce' that Dirk spoke to him, that raised the suspicions there was an attempted shit stir from the off. The fact it's raised barely an eye brow with the club, HJC or the rest of the press shows how much credibility it warrants.

Does anyone else read the title of this thread and try and picture in their mind exactly what a "Dirk off" would entail?

Let me guess - Gerry taught you this trick? Good on ya Mark, you have one up on me (Check out the last few weeks - I've said we should keep him, and it's important to have players like him). Debate over, you win. I lost to a better man!

All I said was I found it odd and it left a bad taste on my mouth.

I may never have been enamoured with his ability but I never questioned his attitude. This ending though was strange and how it's been swept under the rug is also baffling.

Clarification is all I want.

Ha....We had this discussion the other week LTW, you justified that you weren't a hater, if I'd tarnished you with Neil's brush. Fair do's. I don't mean to get arsey, it just seems muchadoaboutnothing.

Don't worry about it ... I used to have problems with Dirk - probably had the same issues, but realized his importance to our team.

You just expect the most out of the 'good guys' (Dirk, Sami etc), so you get let down when you feel they've made mistakes.

Yeah I understand that.

Anyway, onwards and upwards. This Summer I'd like to see us add a few stalwarts to the side, of the calibre Sami, Didi etc.

I dont think he would have spoken to The Lying Rag intentionally.
But to be quite honest. I dont really give a fuck if he did.

Im not going to get arsed about a fucking interview in a paper i dont fucking read when put opposite 6 years of all out professional effort and passion for the club.

Manz knows not to talk with manz, if he fucked up and did it, he did it.
