Bit of a dim way of arguing your point,Modo.
We're talking about a tackle that occurred 48 hours ago, so you bring up a tackle made by Barton X amount of time ago, his past offences are irrelevant, there didn't appear to be any malice in the Darby tackle, no intent to hurt him, only to get the ball.
Nobody is disputing the Xabi tackle not being the best ever, we're talking about the Diaby Challenge
He did that, with aplomb in my opinion, what exactly is the problem? If you make a fair challenge and the opponent becomes injured during said challenge, well that's just bad luck, you can't hand out cards because someone gets hurt, jesus.
Growing up my dad always taught me both with football and rugby that if you go into a challenge thinking you'll get hurt, the likely hood of you getting hurt goes up by however much, Im not saying that's the cause of playings getting injured, clearly some shocking tackles are being committed in football, but often players don't help themselves.

Who's to say that there was malice behind the Alonso tackle?
He got the ball that's the point everyone's trying to make.
I'm saying he could have got the ball without going in like he did.
And what's so wrong with comparing it with another tackle the same player did, when it's basically the same type of challenge for the ball.
By your rationale Alonso shouldn't have got a free kick.

No they are not
"It was not dangerous, it was a full blooded tackle, the only intention was to get the ball which he did."
There was nothing wrong with the tackle, whereas in the Alonso Tackle he launched himself from some distance with a foot off the ground.
The Diaby one was A fifty fifty ball and Barton won it fair and square.
