So Brendan said they will be paying close attention to tonight's game, which you'd imagine. Good timing in the sense that they can properly monitor West Ham in this with no worries of imminent games for us.

I think we'll see the return of Joe Allen for one of Sterling or Philippe, although I would be delighted to see us play 433 again.

Are the likes of Cole, Downing and Carroll all fit for the Hammers?

I'm a bit nervous about this game, been that way about every game these past few months, tbh.
West Ham will obviously play their standard long ball football. It's important that we're strong in midfield and don't give them a chance to establish any type possession in our half of the pitch. They'll most likely try to cross the ball into our box as often as possible.

I wonder whether Sakho coming in to combat the aerial threat of WH will happen? Will be a risk either way, upset an already balanced back 4 or risk agger being destroyed by Carrol?

They play Sunderland tonight. That will be some red cards and injuries.
I know we should concentrate on ourselves but I'd rather not play against Carroll next sunday.
Hope he's unavailable for that game as he's certain to score.

Ming, Flannagan, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Suarez, Sturridge

Coutinho unlucky to miss out but think we just need to be a little more defensive in this game.

I'd also like to give Sakho a game but the stakes are so high, you almost dare not upset the apple cart at this moment.

Agger is far and away my biggest worry for this one and it's not just Carroll in the air who scares me. Nolan has been pretty good on knockdowns and headers in the box this season.

Agger isn't that strong in the air, but he doesn't worry me against West Ham.

Isn't the time for messing with a settled back line. If it's evident early on that we are struggling with long balls then bring Sakho on.

Sakho absolutely has to come in for this game, i'ld be astonished if he didn't.

Thats no dig at the sensitive Agger souls on here either, its just common sense.

It was common sense that he played against Southampton, Man U, Cardiff, Sunderland and Tottenham.

sakho hasn't played enough, it'll be agger and skrtel starting, brendan seems like an 'if it aint broke dont fix it' man when it comes to our defence

All West Ham are going to do is sit deep and defend in numbers and pump the ball up to carol whenever they can. Get him on a yellow and their game plan is over. It's always hard against an ultra defensive line up. On the up side, their fans will only boo them more if they play as they have been under Sam. It's not exactly going to help them.

Every free kick they get anywhere on the pitch will be getting pumped into our box.

Its the obvious weakness of ours defending high balls though we have improved a bit, their main strength is Carroll, it would be foolish to not realise and respect that, i really would be amazed if Sakho isn't starting.

Brilliant marking from Bardsley - he just stood behind Nolan. squeezing his balls and then hugging him whilst life went on without him.

Is it just me or does Cattermole play like a 37 year old? (He's 26 by the way)
