He's getting a proper rest now imo. One game a week. He also missed the first 6 games of the season.
We'll have a two week break after the Southampton game. It'll do him some good.
That's not the same at all as a full rest.
When we first got him he hadn't played in ages, & was blisteringly clinical. He has a suspension & comes back clinical & fresh, & then after a lot of games on the bounce his goal return starts dropping off & more gradually his impact on the game lessens.
I called this fucking weeks ago, you could see it in his passing, his first touch & even on his face when he pushed himself to get back & cover, all those things he does, or seems to do, without effort when he's had some time off, it's just got to the point now where everyone else has finally seen it.
It's a pointless argument cos it won't happen, but the team & he, would benefit.
As it stands he'll get 14 days off because the Sunderland match was moved so hopefully that will be enough to recharge him sufficiently to perform at the highest level til the end of the season.
We play Norwich somewhere near the end & he'd score a hat trick with only one leg in that so that one should be ok at least!
