Defence or attack?

He's getting a proper rest now imo. One game a week. He also missed the first 6 games of the season.
We'll have a two week break after the Southampton game. It'll do him some good.

That's not the same at all as a full rest.

When we first got him he hadn't played in ages, & was blisteringly clinical. He has a suspension & comes back clinical & fresh, & then after a lot of games on the bounce his goal return starts dropping off & more gradually his impact on the game lessens.

I called this fucking weeks ago, you could see it in his passing, his first touch & even on his face when he pushed himself to get back & cover, all those things he does, or seems to do, without effort when he's had some time off, it's just got to the point now where everyone else has finally seen it.

It's a pointless argument cos it won't happen, but the team & he, would benefit.

As it stands he'll get 14 days off because the Sunderland match was moved so hopefully that will be enough to recharge him sufficiently to perform at the highest level til the end of the season.

We play Norwich somewhere near the end & he'd score a hat trick with only one leg in that so that one should be ok at least!

@OptaJoe: 26% - Liverpool have conceded the highest proportion of goals from headers of any team in the top flight this season. Susceptible.

I think we might look a bit better next season if we flogged Toure, Skrtel, Enrique, Johnson and sent back Cissokho in the summer.
I just don't think those players are very good, not now anyway. I'd even add Agger to the list if the price is right.
There's a reason why Skrtel was dropped for Carra last season.

Toure and Skrtel are cockups just waiting to happen every game, Johnson is not the player he once was, and Cissokho is just shit.

I don't think it's down to coaching.

Sell our entire defence?

You mad?

What kind of waffle is this?

For the time being, Gerrard just need to sit a little deeper to calm things down...

Kettle, pot, black.

You do know that Gerrard happened to be the final man a half dozen times yesterday? He didn't seem to have too much of a calming influence.

Tbf he was playing as the sole midfielder for over half the match.

The rest of the midfield were bombing on with Suarez & Sturridge & stevie was on his own in front of the back four.

Aye, but he was literally last back a few times. It's this insistence on playing the ball back all the time, Gerrard actually follows it back.

Yeah but you know Gerrard isn't going to get dropped.

The only other option is to move Gerrard forward which is unlikely.
Obviously.

Lucas is needed in some games like the game against Man U. I'd actually start Allen, Lucas, Gerrard and Henderson and harass the shit out of Man U.

Top-of-the-league attack and bottom-of-the-league defence. I too saw the MOTD montage of our gifts to the opposition this term and it was head-scratchingly baffling just how poor with the ball (but with somebody running at them) our defenders sometimes are.
