Ya Diaz was the main man for us in attack and with better finishing around him would have an assist or two.

You can underestimate the importance of a player who can relieve pressure by just taking the ball on and advancing it up the pitch 30 or 40 metres on his own.

Nah, I have to give Diaz props. He's been the only mainstay since we got bit by the injury bug. He's not getting on the scoresheet regularly but he's annoying the fuck out of opposition defences and staying fit and that's good enough for me at the moment.

True, he and gakpo have been consistent in their not breaking. Probably due to the fact they're shit (it's always the way)

I am laying off slagging players off for now, they're all doing really well with the odd off performances

"odd off performance"

It's a fucking miracle when he or gakpo score, as their shooting technique and decision making is fucking woeful.

N'goals would have scored more in this side.

Fucking albert steptoe riera would have scored more than him in this side

Djimi fucking Trao....

Nope. No. Sorry about that. I got carried away. No. No he wouldn't.

Sorry again. See yiz later.

Great at running at the oppo

Who knows what will come if it. More often than not he l Makes poor decisions once he gets in the box

But puts them on the back foot all the time - he’s like the tricky winger version of Darwin

Capable of progressing the ball and some decent shots but lack of end product still.
Most frustrating of all his final pass in the box or close to it, it feels so lazy and lacking in intent. It almost feels like if he can't take the shot on goal then be bothered to put any meat on the ball for the pass to any other strikers, half-arsed. He has done well since the injuries but him or Gakpo I suspect will be sold in the summer to at least rotate the strikers and keep things fresh.

Nunez actually did similar against Toulouse at home right before he smacked the post 😀

Started the run from inside his own 18 yard box and basically ended it in theirs.

Made a mockery out of Walker not once but twice.

Should a post the Adel Taraabt career highlights in here as well?
Diaz is Adel Taraabt with 10X the workrate.

Seriously though, one of the many reasons we need Mo fully “back” is that he is the one capable of bringing some semblance of organization and harmony into the chaos of Diaz + Nunez forward line; he has the calmness and creative ability to make the other two more effective.

And vice versa when you look at how many assists Nunez has supplied for Mo.

I don’t remember him tearing the best right back in years a new one while playing the defending treble winners in the biggest game of the season competing for the biggest trophies.

How long had Mo been on the pitch before that pass to Diaz? Christ what a ball.

You know why you don't remember that kind of thing?

Because it's fucking irrelevant if you don't win

If we end up winning the league with 1 point then we can come back to the irrelevant part.

Without Diaz the chances of us losing would have been so much higher. He played a pivotal role. Of course he should have scored at least once if not twice but his play allowed us to dominate and prevented them from penning us back time and time again.

His play gave us an out ball. 2nd half we dominated the midfield and most of the pitch. They got nervous and we didn't capitalise.

Endo and macca were the key to that "victory", not diaz

Endo and Macca won the middle, Diaz and Robbo won the left but we didn’t have that dominance on the right especially after Bradley went off

It's not just one game though. Difference is those players have won us other games. Diaz tends to score the 3rd or 4th in a rout.

For all his good dribbling and pace, he should have tons more goals and assists, and that's been true since after his first 6 months with us.

Diaz absolutely is in the gakpo school of underwhelming

Actually that's harsh. He tries hard, unlike gakpo

I’m not doing a deep dive on it but of his 6 league goals this season 2 have been as you described. In fact 2 of the first 3 earned us draws where nobody else scored, so he’s already 2 points in credit for the two he supposedly cost us at the weekend.

I just found it baffling this is the game where Diaz is celebrated? He had a good game yeah but he is also the main reason why we didn't win.

The Nunez pass, and Mo's pass was on a plate. For all his running and "phenomenal" play, he didn't produce the same kind of chances for his fellow players.
