Darwin Nunez

I am exremely unenthusiastic about this signing and the price tag. Let's hope my record of being shit at assessing strikers continues.

Kane will be 29, I can’t see us spending that much on him despite being a great fit.
Nunez does look the business and I’m basing it all on just 2 games against us so I would be fine with the theory of Darwin evolution this time.

Pace and height, one asset we require in our attackers and one asset we're missing up front (bar Jota's propensity to score headed goals by timing his runs perfectly). This should also benefit us at set pieces, not only because of the danger he poses but because it takes some of the defensive pressure off of Virgil/Matip/Konate. Long may our run of set piece kings continue !

More on ...

Darwin Nuñez clocked 36.5km/h top speed in UCL campaign that wrapped up, which is 0.03 less than Alphonso Davies, one of the fastest player out there. Comparison, Salah's top speed clocked in at 33.71km/h

Redcafe : I hate this nightmare we are living in where Liverpool are seriously linked to some of the best and most expensive players in the world. It seems like only yesterday when they were throwing away hard earned money on the likes of Carroll and Benteke. God I hate Klopp and his wife who for mysterious reasons thinks that Liverpool is paradise on earth. What’s not to like in Barcelona for Christ sake!

The fact that United want him and that we may get him would make this even sweeter... that and knowing that Darwin, Diaz, Jota, Firmino, Fabinho, Alisson all speak the same language!

Am I missing something here?
Nunez and Diaz are native Spanish speakers while Jota, Firmino, Fabinho and Allisson are native Portuguese speakers.
Or are you assuming that both Diaz and Nunez can speak Portuguese because they played some of their football in Portugal

I definitely don't know what I'm on about here but I've definitely heard that Spanish and Portuguese share quite a lot of the same words, but the order and pronunciation is all out of whack. I mean given a few weeks you would expect those guys to be able to communicate on basic terms ok. It's not like English and Welsh.

On Nunez... I mean it can't be a panic buy because that's not how we roll these days... but he doesn't seem to fit the profile of what Klopp has been trying to build before. I'd be sceptical if the scouting team hadn't been so prolific. I'm guessing that this means Klopp's second great Liverpool side will look quite a bit different to his first.
