I think its quite the assumption that just because the lads played in Portugal they will be able to speak Portuguese.
Harry Kane has played his whole career in England yet hardly has a word of English.

yea but conversely Kyle Walker has spent no time in space but speaks like a full Martian

Klopp might have looked at the big games that cost us this season and thought we didn't beat a top four side. We didn't win any of our finals until pens, we didn't even score. Maybe he thinks a super bastard action hero in the middle would change all that. He's probably right. It's a gamble, but fuck it.

I’ll not pretend to be a pre Liverpool Klopp scholar but didn’t he win things with Lewandowski (maybe Aubameyang?) at Dortmund?

Persevering with Bobby might have been the deviation from his usual plan.

I definitely don't know what I'm on about here but I've definitely heard that Spanish and Portuguese share quite a lot of the same words, but the order and pronunciation is all out of whack. I mean given a few weeks you would expect those guys to be able to communicate on basic terms ok. It's not like English and Welsh.
You are correct. Its a bit like English and Scottish.

Share majority of the common words.

Yeah the most I know about Klopp's time in Germany was that he somehow broke Bayern's dominance, and all his players loved him. I don't think he was playing with two wingers smashing most of the goals in. In fact I don't think that's ever happened anywhere before. I suppose he's got to work with what's available, and the relative quality that can be got is currently a striker, with only slim pickings on the wings. I think that speed stat says it all... He wants someone who can run at defences and cause mayhem, wherever that may be across the front three.

If Bayern didnt buy his best players then that Dortmund team would probably have won a fair share more trophies as well.

Klopp might have also seen the few times that having a physical presence up top in Origi has helped and combined with Salah, and wanted to see more of that with a striker that's actually good.

Easy to forget that we also have Jota. Who scored 21 goals last season. Still only 25 and will develop further.
Our attack will be very good next season despite losing Mane.

Nunez gives us something different. Which we probably need going forward.

I wonder if there’s even a minuscule temptation to cash in on Mo right now, going with an entirely new setup and just accepting the attack won’t be quite as productive next season. That would of course depend on finding a shit hot replacement for Mo.

Obviously that’s extremely unlikely and we need the continuity of at least Mo to stay competitive

He must have made it clear he'll see his contract out and then get one of these absolutely mental deals that Madrid or PSG can offer, otherwise we'd be selling him while we can.

The fact that United want him and that we may get him would make this even sweeter... that and knowing that Darwin, Diaz, Jota, Firmino, Fabinho, Alisson all speak the same language!
Trent and Robbo are going to struggle to be understood!

Diaz,Jota,Nunez ,Salah is a Phenomenal selection of forwards to start the season with.

Mo won't leave til next summer , we can't force him and he'll get that mbappe-esque super max deal when he joins whichever club, wouldn't be surprised if the prospect of mo joining them next summer was somehow involved in mbappe's new deal at PSG.

Is there any credence behind the notion that religious footballers are less greedy than non-religious footballers?

I'm not convinced we'll see a huge change in approach. I think the idea will be for Nunez to be capable of dropping deep to start the moves, play in the wide men, but also have the sheer pace and acceleration to get on the end of play, whilst also providing an aerial threat in a way that Bobby just can't manage any more.

Could be wrong, but I don't see Klopp just letting him play on the shoulder, or majority reconfiguring the side for him to allow him to do so.

It’ll be a shame to miss out on a fee for him, he could probably still command 400k a week at some Saudi club in 5 years time.

Whoever signs him on a free will be getting him fresh from Afcon 2023 and Klopp running him into the ground, i wish them luck with that.

Or if we signed that cunt from spurs it would be English and kanish

It looks like a good move on paper.

I wish he was more technically adept though I don't think we'll see much improvement in that regard at 22, however his pace is a huge plus as it will enable us to continue with all the tactics that have reaped such rewards to date whilst adding height & power and finishing to the attack.

I hope he has Mane's work ethic (tracking and tackling back).

On Nunez... I mean it can't be a panic buy because that's not how we roll these days... but he doesn't seem to fit the profile of what Klopp has been trying to build before. I'd be sceptical if the scouting team hadn't been so prolific. I'm guessing that this means Klopp's second great Liverpool side will look quite a bit different to his first.

Above all Klopp strikes me as a pragmatist.

E.g. I think he knew the only way we could challenge City was to become uber disciplined and ruthless. So the team from 18-20 was quite a bit less entertaining than the glorious attacking teams of 16-18.

Perhaps now he's thinking that the most obvious way of replacing Salah's goals is to just buy a prolific striker and revert to something more like the team he had at Dortmund.

Makes superficial sense, anyway.

It will be exciting to start the season with two new attackers - but there may be times where we miss the reliability of Mane to make things happen as we transition into a new era of our strikeforce.

Looks like both the terms with the player and the fee are agreed. The structure remains the discussion point and how much of the fee that is upfront etc.

Negotiating tactic by releasing these new stories then? Why would he go to Utd? Besides more wages.
