CB is a position that requires maturity. When did Carra come of age?

Old enough good enough bollocks enough. He's *never* been a FB. How the fuck can you judge a young player based on a few performances when the entire team was shite and the player was out of position?
Exactly. It's a bleedin' good job we didnt judge Rushie after he failed to score in his first 8 games for us. Top of the table, we're making loads of chances for him but 8 games and he can't score - get rid!!
Are we now comparing Rush's obvious physical attributes to that of Wilson?
This is getting silly.

When we signed Rush from Chester City he was just a young lad with a dodgy moustache. It was far from obvious that he was going to be a top player.

Was he slow? Unathletic?

What's physical attributes got to do with anything? He was a striker and strikers are usually judged on goals AND he was playing in his natural position, unlike Wilson.

People are only saying to give him time and judge him when he's played properly as a CB.

What on earth is there to disagree about?

McCoist and Weir will talk soon. In the meantime, the manager is lining up his options and would be keen to bring Wilson back on loan just a year after he left for Liverpool in a deal that could bring in £5million for Rangers.

Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is happy for Wilson to be farmed out to gain regular action and he is an option McCoist is exploring.

Bartley is a confirmed target with McCoist saying: "We are hoping to be back in touch with Arsenal this week."

Elsewhere, though, Cribari said: "I’ve spent my whole career in Italian football and I think it is time to return to my country and get closer to my family. I would like to experience a taste of playing in the Brazilian Championship."

But moves will be determined once it is established if 41-year-old Weir wants to go again and if, indeed, he will be viewed as a first-team regular should he agree to another campaign under McCoist.

The Ibrox gaffer has today been linked with a move to bring former young star Danny Wilson back on loan from Liverpool next term.

He also wants to re-sign Kyle Bartley on loan from Arsenal, and has been tracking Swedish centre-half Andreas Granqvist, who plays for Groningen in Holland.

However, a move for stopper Emilson Cribari looks to have ended after the Napoli man hinted that he would prefer to head home to Brazil if he leaves Italy this summer.

But it was a British record fee for a teenager.

good. game time will help the lad out something fierce
In Scotland though? He came from there and looked out of his depth.

Still think that Wilson will end up a very decent player, though he does, as Fabio says, need game time.
His few outings as left back, a position he clearly isn't suited to for the moment at least, doesn't seem to have done his confidence any good.

hes still young, and game time is game time. Hopefully loan him out this year to scotland, next year to a prem side, then assess our options

Maybe, I think he'd probably be better going into the Championship though for a year, it's competitive enough and there is alot of quality more in the style of what he'd be up against for us (though obviously at a lesser level).

championship would be better, no arguments with that. we need to just make sure we loan him out so he will play weekly

I would hate for him to go to Scotland, what's he gonna learn against Motherwell and Aberdeen? Norwich would be ideal, they need to strengthen the central defence and he'd get plenty of Premier League experience and would see how he copes.

C'mon Lambert make yer move.

And he would benifit from the physical style of the Championship aswell. He needs to toughen up a bit.

Good shout Pesam.
Do Norwich still have Gary Doherty on the books?

Yeah one of the recently promoted teams would be best. Nothing wrong with standing out in a team that's getting twated every week, bigger challenge and more to learn than only having 3/5 games against decent opponents a season.

He was doing quite well until the West Ham game and even that was at LB and not CB (I think). I agree that he needs playing time, but he needs it in the premiership. Keep him at Anfield and let him play Carling Cup. He'll learn more training with Carra daily than he will in Scotland.

No, he's had a bit of a dodgy season at Charlton.

He's shit.

Loan him to a premier league team and dont enforce that not playing against us clause.

As much as I think he will benefit from a stint in English football, like what Daniel Ayala did with Hull and Derby, if going to Rangers mean he can be a permanent fixture in their starting XI and get involved in CL/European football at the same time, then it might well be better playing 50+ games with them then going out to another English club and get involved in only 20+ games for the entire season. Really depends on who's interested in loaning him.

I'd rather not loan him out; there were glimpses of a good player in there, even if he was woeful against West Ham.

I wsa in Upton park thinking this wasnt a good time to try him at LB, and so it proved.

If we are sending him out on loan would Rangers be his best bet or another Premiership side?

At Rangers he would be able to grow in confidence probably because he would be playing for one of the top sides in that league, and would also get European games. If he went to another Premier League team it would more than likely be a shit one but at least he would get experience of the league.

I could see him going on loan to Sunderland if we do a deal for Henderson. Wasn't one of the players that Bruce apparently wanted from United as part of the deal a defender? I honestly can't remember and can't be bothered to look

Bolton Wanderers rival Rangers FC for Liverpool defender Danny Wilson

According to reports Bolton Wanderers are interested in Liverpool defender Danny Wilson.

It is understood that Liverpool are willing to allow Wilson to go out on loan next season.

Wanderers boss Owen Coyle is believed to be keen on the youngster and is planning to apporach the Reds with a view to securing a season-long deal.

Coyle sees the ex-Rangers defender as an ideal replacement for want-away defender Gary Cahill.

The Scot can point to a proven track record of developing young loanees with both Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge excelling during their time at the Reebok Stadium.

It seems that Wilson is also wanted by Rangers on a similar deal.

Bolton would be a much better club for both him and us.

We can then actually make our mind up on him
