Liverpool Football Club have this evening confirmed they have agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of Danny Wilson.

Wilson, 18, established himself in the centre of defence at Rangers last season and landed the Scottish Football Association Young Player of the Year trophy after making 24 appearances for the Ibrox side.

As it happens I think there has been the odd media reference to him possibly leaving, but the connection is they've both played for Rangers.

Doc Mac has spoken very highly of Young Danny in the past.

A bit like Brendan earlier, I am hoping for an Alan Hansen type signing.

so four center backs (if the greek does indeed leave)
carra and agger as first choice, skrtel on the bench and wilson eased in as carra is phased out.
 
Wilson is a very good young player, though Spider is right, he is in the Agger mould. He's a terrific prospect, but he'll never be a monster in the air. And he still needs a bit of time. Well worth buying, and great prospect, but it would be an error to lose Zorba until we replace with that sort of player.

very. not a chance on this earth of that happening when there is a pool of agger, skrtel, the greek (if he stays) and wilson as his competition

Who'd organise the defence? I think Carra's got AT LEAST another season.

As for Danny Wilson... great name, good pedigree, etc. And I suppose if we get £3m for Zorba and buy this kid for £2m, it's kind of a good deal (potentially brilliant if he turns out anything like Hansen), but... this really isn't a priority area, is it? Let's sign a LB or two now. And a striker...

Still, there's a good feeling about the club now. Where did that 'Cecil' thread go?
