Love Rafa to death, but right now we're talking about progress with Klopp, and we can all see progress. QF of the CL for the first time in 10 years, and looking perky near the top of the table.

I wonder if he sings it to himself? Or to people he knows in the real world– friends and family who force a smile as they shoot concerned looks at each other?
Of course I sing it to myself from time to time. Don't give two shits about what people here think.

When is a major trophy not a major trophy? When Dalglish wins it ...

I meant CL or EPL title by that. Domestic cups simply don’t have the same prestige, even though I know in England they are classed as “major” trophies. But in terms of the team’s development winking the league or CL is a major marker, winning the cup is not.

I don't think it's fair to try and dismiss entirely what Rodgers achieved at Liverpool, or claim it was just about the players he had, because he's clearly gone on to do an amazing job at Celtic, and his next club will be interesting too.

But there is some substance in comparing the glory of his "oh so close" second spot to Leicester's fluke title; it was a bit of a one-off. And he made some horrific decisions too.

As for comparing him to Klopp, I don't think anyone would be confused as to who is the better manager, or who they'd prefer to be in charge, but until he wins something, I'm not ready to eulogise him either.

People also conveniently forget that some of the players he was "riding the crest of having" HE BOUGHT. Like Coutinho and Sturridge. We were doing ok until the January we brought Coutinho and then we were magnificent for 18 months, playing as good a football as I've seen. You don't just play good football and nearly win the league by capitalising on having 3-4 very good players at their best.

And where do we draw the line on who gets the credit? Suarez played his best football for us under Rodgers (and arguably after we added Coutinho & Sturridge), Coutinho went from a sparingly used Inter player to a quality Premiership playmaker, Sturridge from 10 goals on loan at Bolton to 20 something goals at Liverpool, Henderson developed rapidly under him (and was crucial in the season we finished 2nd), other players punched above their weight, like Flanagan.

As you say, he went on to win the Scottish title breaking records and completely dominating their league and domestic cups, some might call that a piss easy feat, but he's done it with aplomb. It will be interesting to see what he does next. I wouldn't want him back personally because Klopp's record speaks for itself and Rodgers already failed here.

Klopp has again assembled a brilliant attack and gradually we are looking better in midfield and defense. We know what we need and hopefully he can remedy the defensive flaws and go one better than Rodgers did.

I can see it all now Mark!!! We do well in CL this year and come 2nd. Best we can do at this stage. We finally sign a keeper. We sign a CB to play with VVD. Clyne returns. Keita arrives and is the African Lothar Matthaus. Pep Gaurdiola has a nervous breakdown over a penalty decision in the CL final and goes on a murder spree in Manchester decimating his own strike force. Pogba and Sanchez go on strike over a pay dispute. Kane goes to Madrid. Hazard goes to Madrid. Conte and Conor Mcgregor defeat Mourinho and Khabib Nurmagomedov in a tag team MMA fight. It's gonna be a good year.

Rodgers lost me over Europe frankly though. I mean he didn't seem to know what he was doing. He really underwhelmed on the continent. Kind of like Bananarama. That's really saying something.

And Leicester wins the league again.

Yes... it was a terrible euro campaign. A club like us should never ever compete in Europe like we did that season. Its just fucking wrong but losing Suarez and not replacing him did not help.

Feels familiar-ish..

Yeah it was a shit CL campaign but it was his first. Conte has never been past the quarters. Mancini got sacked after winning the league with City and Inter for bad CL runs. There's loads of managers can't step up, I don't think you can judge on his first go, especially after the state of those transfers.

While I get that it was his first Euro Campaign, the underlying feeling that season after the sale of Suarez in the summer was one of total defeat before each game. Not just the messages coming out of our club press conferences but also from the supporters. It was as if there was a realization we were not going to do well plus the overwhelming feeling was that were happy just to be in the CL. Now for us as 5 times European winners of that competition and the most successful English team in Europe its just wrong to have that feeling regardless of the squad - which was not that bad - we just sold one player that season that's all. I would rather we never qualify for the CL then ever go into that competition with the mentality we did that season.

I have nothing against Brendan Rodgers, but I also was one of those that did not feel the King did a bad job - we were with Kenny creating loads of chances and that fluid passing game was gradually coming back to Liverpool after years of all that pragmatic defense - last ditch tackling stuff. I love Rafa for what he did for us and yes he did win us stuff but he was stubborn as hell. You can argue you need that for success but sometimes he was just too cold towards his own players - even SG said on BT sport that 'he would sometimes look for praise' just to come out of his mouth. I think that attitude was part of his success though - the tough love shown to players would actually make them more focussed - you only need to look at our penalty shootout record under Rafa - I felt the players were mentally stronger on all accounts compared to the current lot.

What I love about Klopp is that he makes the team play in a way that takes out the tension in a game - he wants us to go for it and he has done that from day one. Also I think he is more certain about the type of players that he wants to bring to the club more than any manager. His record of developing raw talent into something special also gives us hope that we don't necessarily need to get the best and most expensive players to compete. For a club like us we need that.

Woland, there wasn't a spark of hope in any of the games. It was utter shite. He's got a level, was found out rapido.

Rodgers is currently losing 3:0 to Mancini’s Zenit in UEFA Cup round of 32. Doesn’t look like he’s learned how to play in Europe.

61% possession but no shots on target. The 1-0 win at home was decent though.

The other difference of course is that one has achieved something and won trophies. Whereas the other previously managed Swansea and had teeth like mine
