Playing for Hull City tonight against Preston, it's on Sky Sports 1 and starts in a minute.

I haven't seen him yet this season but apparently he's doing very well at Hull despite their poor season. The lad beside him is Stevie G's cousin Anthony who is ok but "switches off" too often and is liable to make a mistake or two.

Edit: And worth keeping an eye on Adam Barton in midfield for Preston, I've seen him a couple of times and he's a real talent.

You see that sounds like Ayala to me.

It's true he seems capable of that but he's only just 20 whereas Gerrard is 28 or 29. Ayala looking solid so far.

At the very least, he can be sold to generate some cash....it's all good.

I liked him when he started a game for us...in the CL was it?

I've seen him a couple of times playing for Hull and he's really stood out.

What's this Danny Wilson like??

Could they a future CB pairing?

Daniel Ayala has returned to parent club Liverpool due to injury.

The centre back has missed the last five games because of a persistent injury problem.

Ayala joined the Tigers on an emergency loan in September before the deal was extended until January 1st. He made 12 appearances for the club, scoring one goal in the win against Derby County.

Everybody at Hull City would like to thank Daniel for his efforts during his time at the KC Stadium and we wish him well for the future.

It's not outwith the realms of impossibility that Ayala, Wilson & Kelly form the basis of our future CB pairings.

Kelly looks like a young Carragher.

Ayala is tall, decent in the air and good on the ground, but not pacy - we need Hypia back as a coach to polish his reading of the game off a little.

Wilson is comfortable on the ball and can play at lef back - so in other words we can call him a young, toughewr version of Agger .

Is there not some French lad... Mavinga... who's pretty handy as CB as well?

That kit makes him look even more like a Giraffe.

On a sidenote, when's the last time we'd a foreign youngster going out on loan to Championship clubs on regular basis? They always either seem to go on loan back to their own country, or end up being having a one-off loan stint without making much progress.

Ayala's seemingly adapting to the English game increasingly (with success).

Derby County have today swooped to strengthen their defence with the signing of Liverpool defender Daniel Sánchez Ayala.

The 20-year-old central defender has signed for the Rams on a loan deal which will run until the end of the season.

Derby's central defensive options have been limited this season and manager Nigel Clough has moved to bolster his backline ahead of tomorrow's npower Championship home game with Leicester City.

Clough said: "We're pleased to bring Daniel on board for the rest of the season, especially as he has been in demand and had a number of other clubs interested in taking him.

"I would like to express our thanks to Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool that they have decided Derby County is the best place for Daniel at this stage of his development.

"He is a talented defender who we've seen in action on numerous occasions and feel he has the qualities to help improve our defensive record, which we feel has not been good enough lately.

"This deal has been in the pipeline for a few weeks and we've had to remain patient, but the hard work has now paid off and we're pleased to have Daniel with us."

Ayala is no stranger to the npower Championship as he spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Hull City.

He made 12 appearances for the Tigers before returning to Anfield at the end of December with a hamstring injury, which he has recently recovered from.

During his stay at the KC Stadium he scored his professional goal in only his second appearance, ironically against Derby in September.

The Spaniard joined Liverpool in 2007 from Sevilla, but he had to wait until last season to make his first-team debut for the Reds with two starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League.

Think he'll be back,Binny?
[/quote]

I'm afraid I don't see much in him to suggest he's got a long-term Anfield future, Avvy :-[

Ayala hasn't got a hope of making it here, I'm afraid. He'll be sold for a nominal fee within the next year or so.

Daniel Ayala says having fellow Spaniard Alberto Bueno at Derby County will help him settle into life with the Rams much quicker.

Ayala joined Derby on loan for the rest of the season from Liverpool last week, and he made his debut as a late substitute in the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City a day later.

Bueno, who is also on loan with Derby from Spanish second division side Real Valladolid, has been a supportive figure for the 20-year-old in acclimatising to his new surroundings.

"It is always nice to have someone Spanish around to help you settle in," he said.

"I met Alberto a few weeks ago when I first came to Derby to talk to the manager.

"I knew of Alberto, but I hadn't come across him before until this move came up.

"He was very good to me and he has been helping me settle in.

"I am sure I will strike up a good relationship with all the players here, but when you first come in and you are a little nervous it is good to have someone who knows how it feels and has been in the same position before.

"Already, I feel at home here. Everyone has been very good to me and I can't wait to be involved in the games we have coming up.

"At Liverpool, as you can imagine, we were blessed with a lot of Spanish players and members of staff in the past so it wasn't a problem when I came to England.

"It is nice as well that we can speak a little bit of Spanish every now and again; we can sit in the dressing room and have a chat and the rest of the lads won't understand us!"

a bit harsh, i think. he's still a 'baby' (yuk!) for a centre half, and the couple of times i saw him play for hull he was absolutely excellent. I'd give another year as a loanee - ideally in the prem - and see if he's got the ability to be a squad player in 2012/13.

Ayala has a chance if he cuts out the silly mistakes in his game. Not the quickest but that's never been a problem for a CB especially if he positions and reads the game well. He still needs to bulk up and who knows may turn into an aerial dominant player that we lack at the back.

Having said that, we seem to be blessed with young rising stars in that position so it'll be touch and go.

He looked very decent when he played for us last season.

You'd have to say though that unless we have a major shake up of our CB's this summer (+the signing of Wilson), the chances of him making it with us are very remote.

Yep I agree. I haven't seen him play for Hull myself but he was getting very good reviews all the time if I remember correctly? That's quite good for someone who has only just turned 20. Would be nice to see how he does for a low/midtable prem side.

Derby County's on-loan defender Daniel Ayala has today received a call-up to the Spain under-21 side.

The Spanish youngsters are to play two international friendly matches next week as part of their preparations for this summer's European Under-21 Championships in Denmark.

They will face France on 24th March in Reims before returning to Spain to play Belarus on 28th March.

Ayala has been named in the squad for the France game, with a separate squad to play Belarus.

Ayala has represented Spain at youth international level in the past, but never for the under 21s.

The 18-man squad that Spain have named includes three players from Real Madrid and two from Barcelona.

Ayala joined Derby on loan until the end of the season from Liverpool in February and has impressed in eight appearances so far.

He has formed a solid partnership with Shaun Barker in central defence and Derby have kept three clean sheets in his seven starts.

At the other end of the field, he set up Theo Robinson's crucial goal in the 1-0 win at Sheffield United at the end of February.

Manager Nigel Clough said: "This is a great accolade for Daniel and we're pleased to have helped him along the way to get this call-up.

"He has been excellent for us. We fought long and hard to bring him here, and he is showing everyone exactly why with his performances on the pitch."

Ayala spent the first half of the season on loan at Derby's npower Championship rivals Hull City, where he made 12 appearances.

Daniel Ayala made his debut for Spain's under-21s in their 3-2 defeat away to France on Thursday evening.

Ayala, who is on loan to Derby from Liverpool until the end of the season, played the full 90 minutes of the friendly match at the Stade Auguste Delaune, Reims.

Spain trailed 3-1 at the break and found themselves down to ten men when Juan Carlos was sent off for a two-footed lunge.

Despite being a man down, Spain had the better of the second period and they pulled a goal back before hitting the woodwork late on.

Spain's under-21s will play Belarus in another friendly next Monday, but an entirely different squad has been selected for the game and Ayala will resume training with Derby at the start of next week.

He has made nine appearances in Derby colours since signing in February, and has formed a promising understanding with fellow central defender Shaun Barker.

In those nine matches, the Rams have kept three clean sheets.

DERBY County are keen to take Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala on loan again next season.

The Rams plan to ask Liverpool about the possibility of the Spaniard making a return to Pride Park in the 2011-12 campaign.

Ayala's current loan runs to the end of the season and he has impressed since he joined Derby in February.

He has made nine appearances, including eight consecutive starts
in a partnership with Shaun Barker at centre back. His composure in possession for a 20-year-old defender has caught the eye and last week he made his debut for the Spanish Under-21 side in a friendly against France in Reims.

Derby have been pleased with the way he has settled in and with his contribution in helping the team pick up valuable points.

The Rams had won only once in a dozen matches before Ayala arrived but, in the last eight games, they have won twice and drawn three.

"Is there a possibility we could see him back on loan next season? We are going to make that inquiry, certainly," said manager Nigel Clough.

"We will be speaking to Liverpool to see if there is any possibility of that happening. The only thing is that they (Liverpool) don't usually make those decisions until August.

"We need some players in before that, and we certainly need another centre half in.

"Daniel has shown us enough during his time here and we would like to take him as a loan as well next season."

Ayala will not play for Spain's under-21 team against Belarus tonight as an entirely different squad has been selected from the one which faced France last week.

I like the lad. He's done well on both his loan deals. I think he's worth giving a go at the very least as aggers understudy (given he's a ball playing centre back... *guffaw*).

Seriously, I think he might do ok.

I've always liked the look of him when I've seen him play, he looks a natural centre back and as said, is comfortable on the ball.

He suffered badly when he was paired with Buckhan (?or a name similar) at centre half.
He does look like a half decent CB but he is a bit on the slow side.
While comfortable on the ball from what I have seen he is not afraid to put the boot and his head in.
